THere's a small piece in the daily mail today about how ricky hotton v mayweather sold 1.25m ppv in the uk alone. It beat the previous best of 750,000 by tyson v lewis. Also GBP and mayweather get none of the money from the uk ppv , so looks like ricky probably made more from this fight the mayweather . The paper was quoting a figure ' in excess of £17m '
So does Hatton get ALL the money from the ppv, or does it get divied up bewteen a few? If so (and even if not!!), good on him!! :thumbsup
i think hatton gets a set % from the BSKYB ( ppv ) as this was pre arranged buy his father ( business manager ) . BSKYB bought the rights of the the fight from HBO .
Thats a lot to set off from the previous amount. Although it did 850k here. You gotta sub in some kind of number to it for the extra record breaking buy over there.
if the numbers are true and hatton got 1.2 million buys in the uk (dubious to me), sky might try to get warren back into the fold and hopkins v calzaghe fight in the uk. after all huge live uk gate and huge ppv numbers would dwarf any american gate and ppv figures.
Nah:good ...In regards to the statement: built on losers I was just taking the quote used by PBF about America and which I think is true and turning it around in relation to the UK and it's general failure in sporting events in recent times, which is true...and then rewarding the losing sportsman bigtime, i.e. David Beckham and Ricky Hatton:deal...funny enough, I was born in the UK (don't live with its sporting politics.
Yes, but I do believe the PPV was half the price in England. It was only $30 American.... But they certainly do follow boxing more than the US right now.
