Something tells me drug and alcohol abuse doesn't have the best effect on punch resistance either.

Lets face it, his maniacal fans helped his problem. I bet he couldn't walk around without everyone telling him how great he was, and noone telling him the truth, which was that he was a good fighter, not a GREAT fighter.

He is an overachiever, someone who did extraordinary things with the limitations he had to work under. If he can reconcile himself with that, he will be at peace.

  3. I think a phone call from Congressman Pacquiao would go a long way in helping Hatton heal.

It's actually not nearly as bad as it sounds.

Hatton gave british boxing the light it needed , and for about 4 years he shone so very brightly . People say he is overated , I think they mean he overacheived, there is a difference. Hatton only lost to the very best, Mayweather and Manny are just different leagues to any other fighters on the planet.

    Exactly.

I'm not sure why so many relish at his low point. After beating Tszyu, the guy tried to make significant fights and fought to win (not only to "not lose")

Hope he finds a sense of satisfaction in that and can move on with his life.

Hatton was such a great character for boxing. To me he's the kind of fighter you honestly miss when he's not fighting. To hear everything he's been going through really disappoints me and makes me feel bad for him. I honestly think he should fight again. Not for the money, and not for his legacy, just for him and his fans. Fight again, stay in decent shape and make a great career out of promoting. He's still a young person, he should try to enjoy his new lifestyle outside the ring but also keep training if it will make him feel better and keep him in better shape.

Guy needs to stay in boxing because he genuienly is a good character. Went for the best even though he had almost zero chance of coming out on top.

However he needs to sort himself out if he wants to play a big role in boxing, I've no problem with him taking coke, alcohol or gorging on food if he has nothing to do with boxing. However if he truly wishes to be a promoter he does need to sort himself out if he wants fighters that look up to him in the right way.

I have mixed emotions regarding ricky hatton. No-one wants to see a boxer go through this especially after some of the great nights and fights hes given us but at the same time he needs to come to terms with the fact that he was never great. He was good but never elite and did the best with what he had.
Im not surprised he's ended up like this because he didn't react very well to the mayweather loss. He went in with the mindset that he was unbeatable and once he was shown he could lose it ruined him. He never gave mayweather the credit and tried to find excuses when really he only had to look at himself. The pacquiao loss was just icing on the cake but for me the writing was already on the wall
