Despite Hatton losing to Pacquiao inside two rounds, Mayweather claims he is still a better trainer than Freddie Roach. He said: "Roach's man listened, my man didn't and I'm not going to take anything away from him. "He overshadowed me but is he a better trainer than me? Hell no. "Hatton should have kept his hands up better. If you want to talk about the mistake, that was the mistake. "It was something I'd been preaching and preaching and preaching about." I am going to go find a dictionary, I am sure there is a pic of Floyd under the word *******!
I wouldn't expect anyone from Team Hatton to turn around and blame it all on Mayweather even if they did think he was responsible. Not that I think Mayweather is responsible.
FLoyd is telling it like it is. ESPECIALLY IN THE SPORT OF BOXING everything he is saying here is something you should learn DAY ONE AS BOXER. When you go into a fight and do the exact oppisite of waht your trainer has taught you; makes you a bigger ******* than Mayweather could ever dream to be.
Mayweathers right. Hatton fought a very stupid amatuer fight. He made himself so easy to hit, coming in squared up with his hands down. I never understood why he had that other trainer. That guy was talking at the same time as Mayweather. There should only be one voice in a fighters ear during fight time and during training. THe assistant should only confer with the head trainer and never shout out instructions at the same time.
Hatton CLEARLY disobeyed Seniors orders and deviated from the game plan, ss evidenced by Seniors corner talk after round one and Hatton turning to Lee Beard.
Whilst you can point a finger at Floyd for his lack of punctuality which is very dissrespectful and unproffesional you can't blame him for Ricky's poor performance. Hatton done nothing Floyd had been teaching him during their 12 week camp. Like Roach said months ago, you can teach someone a new style but as soon as you hit them and put them under pressure they will revert back to type. This is what Ricky done and he has no one to blame but himself.
Nice work floyd, can't be humble so you **** talk your fighter. Part of being a trainer is knowing how to be listened too.
Did that happen? I missed that. Lee always seemed like a **** to behonest....I saw a couple of interviews with him on sky and in each one he kept mentioning how it was a great camp because his opinions held the same wieght as anyone else's (a.k.a. Floyd's). Two problems with that a) it shouldn't because floyd is the head trainer (you don't see john david jackson taking over nasheem do you?). And two the way he said it he sounded more more bitchy and insecure about his role then confident in his value. ****ing christ Ricky's got a bad habbit of surrouding himself with idiots. I mean i hate Floyd SnR's antics but the focus is the fighter and whats best for him and if your the second trainer then your job is to work the pads and STFU when the boss is talking. It certainly isn't to try to get your boy to do something completely different.
During his sparring on the 24/7 episodes they were both shouting different things at the same time. Problem is Hatton probably has given Lee permission to talk at the same time, which is a very bad thing. There should only be one voice in the corner. Thats what makes Roach's relationship with Manny so good, he has full control of all decisions. Pac is smart for being that way.
Not Mayweathers fault Hatton didnt follow the plan. Shame a decent trainer did not get hold of hatton sooner in his career. What impresses me most about this whole saga is the how Roach called it spot on, how Manny was able to execute the plan clinically and how the two of them seem to work as a trainer/boxer pairing. I will definately watch Mannys fights from now on, previously only seen a few and other highlights from his career, I like the man. If amir Khan is going to ever do anything in the world of boxing then in Roach he has the right man. Not sure what Khan can do about his chin but hopefully he will never be as wide open as Hatton was. As roach says, speed kills! Manny has it and a decent chin coupled with a warriors heart. Khan has the speed, he just needs to pay attention and try develop the other two (not sure he can save his chin, but he can definately work on his defence).
Full article text - "RICKY HATTON'S camp insist Floyd Mayweather Snr is not to blame for the Hitman's defeat to Manny Pacquiao. Amid rumours of unrest and bust-ups, Mayweather strolled into the MGM Grand just an hour before Hatton faced Pacquiao on Saturday night. The Hitman was promptly knocked out in brutal fashion and his trainer immediately claimed the 30-year-old should hang up his gloves. Check out our pictures of Ricky Hatton recovering in Las Vegas MY Sun Team Hatton refuse to point the finger at Mayweather for the devastating loss but it appears his days working with the Mancunian are numbered. Richard Williams, chief execuctive of Hatton Promotions, said: "It's an interesting point but the one person to blame is Pacquiao. "Mayweather was brought in for 12 weeks to do a job and that's the end of it. "He's finished now and we don't know what's going to happen." Mayweather, 56, allegedly clashed with fellow trainer Lee Beard in the build-up to the pound-for-pound showdown. It was Beard who Hatton turned to for advice after being floored twice in the first round by Pacquiao. And Williams claims he will always be a part of Team Hatton. He added: "Lee's a lot more involved with Ricky than Mayweather is. "He's with Hatton Promotions 365 days a year, Mayweather's there for 12 weeks before a fight and that's the difference. "Probably the best way to describe Mayweather is that he's on board as a consultant. "Mayweather's come in to do a specific job." Despite Hatton losing to Pacquiao inside two rounds, Mayweather claims he is still a better trainer than Freddie Roach. He said: "Roach's man listened, my man didn't and I'm not going to take anything away from him. "He overshadowed me but is he a better trainer than me? Hell no. "Hatton should have kept his hands up better. If you want to talk about the mistake, that was the mistake. "It was something I'd been preaching and preaching and preaching about." Mayweather a consultant? Sounds like Lee Beard has a lot to answer for.
Floyds's being honest Ricky looked like he learned nothing but.....when you talked as much **** as he did, he needs to now STFU!
