for me its not about saying he's a bum. He's clearly a world class fighter. Just that he's a fraud compared to what he was claimed to be. He's never been an elite fighter

Ok, your point isn't he isn't at regional class level because he beats shot to hell fighters or not very good fighters from around the world. I guess if that is your argument you are absolutely correct, he isn't technically a regional fighter, he is a regional class fighter though.

As for backlash, I always felt this way about Hatton, since the Koysta fight. He fights nobodies and has beens and people praise him like he is doing something. The guy is a hype job and now hopefully everyone knows that.

As did he fight of any significance at 140 beside Koysta?

He was rabbit punching, wrestling, and mauling Kostya, but ok he beat him. Who else in the top 10 at 140 did he fight after that?

You talk about him winning a title at 147, more like stealing a title. Everyone knows Collazo beat his ass clearly the whole fight but the gave him the decision so he could carry a belt into a fight against Floyd.

Ricky Hatton is a joke of a fighter. He is a club level fighter that was scared to fight his fellow countrymen in the same division, with the pathetic excuse that he doesn't want to give him a payday.

He was detroyed by one fighter and stopped by another watch what you say kid.

He is not a fraud, he has two common opponents with Miguel Cotto and he TKO'd them both while Cotto went the distance with one and stopped the other on cuts.

He was never a European champ. He refused to face Otkay Urkal when urkal was undefeated and held the EBU. Instead he fought for the non-descript WBU and made 15 defences of it at the M.E.N. His is one of the most carefully managed careers i have ever seen. He refused to fight Chop Chop, Witter, Harris and Pinto on his march to the top. All those 4 men were substantial risks for little reward. Himself and Warren chose the easiest route to the top. Hatton has now paid the price for complacency.

He was not a great fighter! He beat Kostya when he was over the hill. He beat Castillo who was done & just showed up for a paycheck. Those are the only elite fighters he fought. He did not belong in the same ring with Manny or Mayweather!:rasta

Any man who refuses point blank to face his divisions sternest test IS A FRAUD. He refused point blank to face Urkal Corley Harris Pinto and Witter on his way up despite being THE MANDATORY FOR THEIR BELTS. Even when Witter was the world ranked number 2 he chose a fighter who had been retired for 18 months instead and a career lightweight. Thats shrewd matchmaking for a reason. That equals fraud.

Your analysis is a fraud. Hatton never claimed to be anything more than he is.

Dude, he out wrestled an old fighter for his belt in his backyard . . .

and then defends said title against highly regarded Urango and Maussa who produced an upset win over Vivian Harris to gain his title and lost it a la Buster Douglas in his next bout w/ Hatton. So that was a free lunch. He fights an old, grizzled, war-torn and shot Castillo who can't even make weight anymore in a fight in which Castillo came to earn a check. His biggest battle was with the scale and the shot dealt by cutting weight was harder than any shot Hatton could land to the warrior's rib cage. I swear I've never seen Castillo act like such a skirt in a bout. Let's not forget that Hatton managed to mix in what was really a loss to Collazzo somewhere in there and then he fights the only guy he can feel safe about charging in with no fear against, the brittle-fisted and light-hitting Malignaggi who should have been beltless as he came off of what should have been a loss to N'dou. The dude is ****in' losin' to Lovemore N'dou for chrissakes. I know Ricky was jumpin' at the prospect of solidifying his reputation by battering ol' Paulie no punch aka Mr. hand surgery.

Tell him to fight a champ who has successfully defended his belts (no gift decisions) in his prime . . . oh, yeah, he did and he got his ass whooped.

So what you're saying is he never claimed to be more than a fraud?

The definition does not fit Ricky Hatton as a world class fighter.

He is not a fraud, but a great fighter? No not even a close. He beat a fading Tsyzu, Castillo. Some people thought he lost to Callazo, and he should of lost the Lozcano.
