It's time to get REAL here. Hatton needs PACQUIAO more than vice versa. In the long run, HATTON will give in to PACQUIAO at a purse rate of 55-45, for PACQUIAO of course. So, no need to worry, FIGHT will go on as scheduled. :hat
I wish we knew WHEN this fight would occur. That would make it a little easier to pinpoint really. Cotto-Margarito dos will only be side tracked if Margarito gets beaten by Mosley and even THEN I'd say it's a 50/50 shot to get dropped. Not even a Hatton fight would interrupt it and Arum looks dead set on doing it. I thought about Andre Berto if he gets by Louis Collazo. Berto has the flexibility of being able to go down to 140 or stay up at 147 (where Hatton could chase him). I don't think they'd throw him in the ring with Hatton but if the price is right? Zab Judah is a funny choice. Name power, some risk and of course like Golota, Tyson and Emmanuel Augustus...chances are you'll get some sort of high end drama to go along with it. I think it would be the winner of Holt/Bradley to be honest.
ok. let's all be objective here. hatton-mayweather: hatton was 140-lb king and mayweather was #1 p4p. hatton took a 30/70 split of the guaranteed purse here but got the whole 1.25M UK PPV revenue for himself while mayweather took home the proceeds of all the 850k US PPVs. bottomline is mayweather took home more money than hatton by virtue to the 30/70 purse split and that US PPVs are twice more expensive than UK PPVs. then here comes pac-hatton. same situation, hatton 140-lb king and pac p4p #1. so, doesn't pac also deserve to take home a little more money than hatton just like mayweather did rather than just the equal 50/50 split of the purse as well as both US and UK PPV revenues? the only difference i see is that mayweather is american while pac is asian and a pinoy. so, does pac deserve less than mayweather in fighting hatton? both pac and mayweather are/were coming off victories over PPV star, dlh here.
I think the point is that Hatton (by virtue of being a massive draw in the UK and I mean MASSIVE) would deserve a 50/50 split which is fine. Pac hasn't proven to be a big time draw (unless 22K vs David Diaz is conclusive) so there's a lot of verbal wiggle room for Hatton and his supporters. Hatton and Pac are arguably THE only two massive names who could sell on their own...so it's not like Pac would be carrying Hatton around in terms of economics. Personally I wish both fighters could get a downside agreement deal with a much much larger purse being handed to the winner of the fight.
the diaz fight was 250k not 22k. pac is a proven draw in the US. all of his last 9 fights were all PPV events including those of diaz and solis. he filled up the seats of the arenas in all of these fights. i don't like to make a comparison but hatton's last fight w/ malignaggi wasn't even PPV in the US and there were many empty seats during that fight and tickets sold very slow. this means that pac is much more popular and a much bigger draw than hatton in the US. and that is where the fight is going to be.
You have a valid point there dude, the thing is Hatton knew this fight is too risky for his career, a loss to pac will sent him back to square one. His won over Paulie did not merit much to increase his marketability, his prior lost to PBF was one diminishing factor. Pac is the P4P king and deserves a respect while Hatton is not even in a top 10 lister. Should pac losses this one, theres a lot of stand by poll back position he can switch on, JMM is there, Guzman, Campbell, Cotto and PBF is there. Hatton needs pac, more than pac needs hatton.
Hatton should fight winner of Diaz-JMM if they are willing to move up in weight. If not, Timothy Bradley. If not that, then maybe Junior Witter, who doesn't seem half as dangerous now as he was pre-Bradley.
i've already said in a diff. thread that hatton needs this pac superfight and to win it so that he will be in a much more improved bargaining position vs. mayweather in another big-money superfight rematch between them. w/o pac, hatton will get peanuts in a possible rematch w/ mayweather no matter who he fights next in subst. for pac. pac, on the other hand, doesn't need hatton to get to mayweather since mayweather already KTFO'd hatton. pac is #1 p4p while mayweather is a "retired" p4p #1 and both of them beat the undisputed PPV star in dlh. that in itself is more than enough for a pac-mayweather fight to happen.
What you are leaving out here is thta the fight was at 147--PBF was THE champ and the fight was for hit title. In the Hatton/Pac match up, it is Hatton who is the champ at 140 so he should get that considered in the purse. Would you take less than 50% if you were the champ and it was your title at stake?
