Hatton is bigger than Mayweather, Mayweather started at 130 and Hatton weighs more on fight night than Mayweather
Exactly right. I'm sick of these people who think that if you don't think Hatton is the greatest, then you must be a hater. Such childish crap dosen't belong in this forum. And again, you're right, Hatton is painfully overrated...mostly by the British fans. They are right to crow about their Joe Calzaghe, he's a legit world class great, even though some Americans don't give him his due, but Hatton is NOT in the same class as JC, and most British fans overrate him, like some fans over here do. God help Ricky when he fights his next "real" opponent.
He's a two weight world champ who went over to the states when he really didnt have to. Great champions aren't just about skillset, Ricky has the heart of a champion and deserves respect. Definate #8 p4p imo
Castillo also, along with Tsyzu was in the p4p rankings when Hatton fought and beat him. You guys can hate down on two weight div champ Hatton all you like, it doesn't hide the fact that Ring Magazine have him at P4P no 8.
I know where you are coming from but I think that what you're saying is a little unfair. Of course there are people who think he's far, far better than he actually is (most fighters have those fans) but there are many who think that he's a good fighter who has accomplished quite a bit, for a man of his talent, he's gone to the US and had some good fights and has also brought more people into the sport. There are some bloody decent and knowledgable posters here, such as Jack, Ilesy, GazoC, etc., who defend the man, not as great fans, but because of the disgusting hate shown towards him. The majority of the haters don't argue against claims of him being 'the greatest' but simply of him being a boxer, or him being a decent bloke. If it was against people saying how great he was, then I would understand.
i would maintain that hattons best win was against tyszu BUT tyszu was on the decline and coming off a year(?) out of action due to injury and in the fight he was very good for someone out so long, if he had better stamina i think he would of won the fight. Hatton faught tyszu at the time when he was not at his best and also the ref was a joke! so i still maintain hatton is NOT as good as people say and thats just my analysis looking at his fights against good quality opponents. I think all people who understand boxing know that the best british boxer is joe calzaghe and thats quiet clear. As someone pointed out here if hatton moved up in weight against a fighter in the same class as hopkins (cotto, margrito etc etc) he would NOT be favourite, and i would fear for hatton getting knocked out
i know that you love hatton. but can you explain why do you hate pac? and if the fight happens at 135, i'm pretty sure that pac would beat the hell out of a dehydrated hatton. and hatton is the naturally bigger man. if height is what you are basing the size of the fighters, then caballero should be fighting at middleweight.
Hatton is no longer p4p top 10. He is in p4p top 15 though. If he gets another big win he can be back up in the mix. But his performance last night was not on par with what other guys are doing to there sub level opponents.
3 things: 1) I hold Pacman #1 p4p 2) You obviously have no knowledge of what the term p4p means if you state the Hatton beating Pac at whichever weight you choose as a reason why Hatton is a p4p fighter. 3) HEIGHT IS NOT THE MEASURE OF HOW BIG A FIGHTER IS, YOU SIMPLE ****.....
Height is a ridiculous way to measure this. It's like saying Thomas Hearns would kill Mike Tyson as he was taller.
Why do people keep stating this as fact? Tszyu fought Hatton seven months after having knocked out Mitchell very impressively, after which win the heavy consensus opinion on ESB was that Tszyu was minimum #3 P4P.
And end this STUPID ****ing thread on that note. Am i understanding this correctly?I think Hatton can beat Pacman someone MUCH smaller and not in his weight class so place him in the P4P top 10????WTF
