The crap on here that is said about Hatton is getting worse,he beat the man KT in one of the most brave fights i have seen and the only non brit to give him credit was the great KT himself (he hit Hatton low three times before Ricky did it back before anyone bangs on about that!!)Then he fought a freak in the 140 division in Maussa who was very unorthodox (he beat Harris who many thought would beat Hatton) job done. Next two fights were against southpaws one a weight above and the other looked like Tysons smaller clone and hit like a mule! You can only beat who is put in front of you and thats wot he has done,i cant help thinking if he was Mexican he would be the most popular fighter in the world,he dont trash talk, likes his food and beer(dont we all)and talks with respect for his rivals and peers. I think he is a breath of fresh air for the sport and should be trated with the respect an ambassador of the sport deserves!

For me, his recent fights have been very frustrating to watch. I think his holding/grappling has gotten excessive. Just when I think I'm about to see action in a Ricky Hatton fight, he changes it to 5-7 seconds of walking forward while holding the other guy, looking to the side, and tapping below his ribs until the ref says break. It's just not enjoyable boxing to me. Hell, the reason he's frustrated me is that it's just not boxing to me period.

He seems like a likeable guy and put on a much better show against Tzsyu and Maussa, but since then, I've not been pleased when watching his fights.

I dont want this thread to go down that path my friend,I really think its more because alot of people have seen his last 4 fights(none of the 38 or so before) and judge on that, they were all world title fights and not supposed to be a walk in the park, just an opinion though. Cant wait to see MAB walk to the ring with him though.

The TS is correct, if Hatton was a tanned mexican or even half mexican he would be universally loved and revered as a no nonsense, respectful, body puncher with a great jaw and aggressive fighting style!
"The new JCC" the people would cry!

But because he's a pasty white english guy who puts a few extra pounds on between fights, abit 'common',not flashy and not very handsome he's abnormally picked on and criticized much more so than if he would be a latino.

Of course he looked good in his first 38 fights, they were against VASTLY overmatched opponents.

And I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he screwed us all out of a superfight because he didnt have the balls to sign the dotted line.

JCC would have never done such a thing.

Hatton is very overrated and boring. People talk **** about PBF but all Hatton does is fall in and hold. BTW PBF beats the dog **** out of Hatton if Hatton grows some balls and fights him:deal

I think you are right, Warrior. I'm not a Hatton hater but I haven't been impressed with his recent fights. I didn't see any of his previous bouts, so I don't have his entire body of work to consider. His color certainly doesn't play a role in my feelings about him. He seems like a good guy; hanging with the common folk, being humble, having a sense of humor.

Why is it then "crap" to say that Hatton may be digressing if following his career performance against Tsyzu and then Maussa, he has put on some frustrating performances with less fighting and more grappling? He should be entering his prime now, and the people in the US started by seeing Hatton at one level, and we're not seeing him fight at that level 2 years later fighting similar-level opposition.

I dont think people hate him. Just because you criticize a fighter doesnt mean you hate him. He was thought of the next great thing when he beat Tzyue. But hasnt looked great since then. You have to take the good with the bad Hatton fans. But all will be forgotten when he brutally stops Castillo on saturday.

Tsyzu was the better man at 140 than Floyd,Tyszu was the n1 at that weight and Hatton beat him.

Its not that i am single minded on Hatton it's more that every time u step in the ring u fight a different beast everytime,he has changed his style to suit the opposition and WIN,do people want him to stand there and get hit? When u step into the ring its survival mode and u do everyting u can to get a victory, the sad thing is he can box clever but its hard against southpaws.

Every fighter in the world has "haters". It's a fact of life. Many Americans dislike Hatton. But there's a **** load of British who hate him aswel. Whether it's for not fighting Witter or for "losing" against Collazo. People just look for crap to throw at certain fighters.

I'm a Hatton fan, but his last couple of fights have been terrible to watch. Even if he's in a foty with Castillo and wins by KO, his haters will say Castillo was shot or some bull****.

Regardless of how he did it, the simple fact is he's a world class boxer who beat the no.1 LW of the time and then beat several other alphabet guys, one of whom was at a higher weight.
