It's funny that people get annoyed about Hatton and his "routine" of saying he's "one of the lads". You have to realise that in these interviews he's often prompted by questions such as "Ricky, you're well known for your approachable attitude and rapport with the fans. How much does this mean to you?", etc. Interviewers want you to say certain things. They try to guide it to certain points. I certainly don't think it's fair to claim Hatton is a phony just because he harps on about being a good guy. That's hardly evidence to the contrary. Most people that have met him say he's one of the real nice guys of the sport.
That is true, i hate it when people talk in the 3rd person, but i have come to realise that most top boxers do it:-(
Explain? explain what? What like Hopkins and his White man **** that didn't bring Boxing any good, Judah who is always involved in disgraceful scenes in the ring. As an ambassador for Boxing I consider Hatton to very good.
and they never got 'bad press' because of it? you're new to boxing, i dont expect you to know all that, hang around you have alot to learn.
He builds up his fight with Juan Lazcano, a mediocre opponent nowadays at best, and claims its for the fans while expecting them to fork out £15 for another boring fight in general. He completely lacks personality for me and I hate the way he puts on so much weight between fights aswell because for me it shows a complete lack of dedication to the sport, that's why I actually prefer Mayweather because at least he has character and he's so dedicated as he doesn't drink etc and is arguably the hardest training fighter around. I also hate the crappy excuses he comes out with for not fighting Witter, such as not wanting to give him his biggest payday and because Witter whispered to him 'one day' at some awards ceremony (whatever one it was). He also ALWAYS mentions Joe Cortez when people talk to him about the Mayweather fight, he may sort of admit he was beaten by the better fighter (although I've actually never heard him directly say it) but he would also mention Cortez' handling of the fight aswell and try to use that as an excuse. He's not that good anyway, the Mayweather fight was completely overhyped because Ricky never really had a chance, and I believe he would of lost to a prime Tsyzu and Castillo.
Hatton has mentioned that he was beat by Mayweather many of times. And whetehr people want to admit it or not Cortez WAS a factor in the fight and the way he handled it pissed me off and i wasnt even fighting, would it have changed the outcome? i dont think so, but there are alot of people out there who think it would. I agree with you on Hatton losing to a prime Tszyu, but i believe he would have beat a prime Castillo.
prime castillo was a lightweight not a light welter, just like how you say hatton isn't a welterweight.
Don't tell me what I am mate when you know nothing about me. They got bad press?yes but there's nowhere near the same hatred on this site for these guys who sometimes embarrass our sport with their actions and comments.
Believe what you like mate, the fact is I'm right. Like him or not I personally couldn't give a ****, but the hatred I think is OTT.
yes it did, why would i lie about that on an internet to random guys i do not even know? it was since then i started hating the fat drunk.
You hate him because some security guys did what security guys are supposed to do in the way that security guys generally tend to. Ok.
