Hatton: I should have quit earlier

Am i the only person in the world that dosnt have any sympathy for ricky? He's only 32 now he could of easily made it back into the game but chose not to.

No you're not. Whats to be sympathetic about? He's made his money and retired. Coming back at 32 would have been an awful idea though.

 

I think Gaz is correct, Hatton took too much too often to have a long career. Though certainly his dietary habits will not have helped at all and possibly knocked a year or so off his shelf life.

 

Theres getting hit and theres also the fact that with that style as soon as a fighter slows down he workrate, even by the smallest amount due to age, they are a lot less effective.

Pressure fighting is a style for a young man.

 

Yes, but its worth considering that he lost some time where he would have had peak work-rate due to binge drinking 10 pints of guinness and eating Crap during his downtime. Fluctuations in weight like that simply can not be good.

 

Of course they aren't good but IMHO they didn't affect either of his loses or rob him of any serious time on his career.

 

I reckon it did. A bit. He was looking past it in the Urango fight.

Billy Graham or Kerry Kayes whoever conditioned him deserved a lot of credit. The shape he rocked up in at the start of his training was somewhere between a shambles and disgraceful.

I understand, I really do. Hitting that level of fame that very few boxers do and having your whole country behind you. The pressure, the spotlight, everything. Hatton really is just a normal kid, I mean I'm not saying in his later years he was still like that because ego goes to people's head, but knowing you're not gonna hear that roar again and that you can't pull the trigger, especially at 29/30 when you don't know it's around the corner? It has to be heartbreaking.

The most important thing to remember here is that the photo was from 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' and not 'Chitty Chitty, Bang Bang.'
