I meant at 140, I was answering Ron.:good I know what you mean about Pac but I can't remember a Ring (if thats the ranking "system" were talking about) P4P #1 ever having lost his last fight. If Hatton beats Pac, Pac will be dropped and JMM will be #1 with Hatton 3-5. The fun and games will start if Hatton beats JMM and Pac or Hopkins hasn't done anything noteworthy in the meantime.
Ahh sorry about that:good Good point the p4p no.1 should be coming off the back of a win rather than a loss really. If Hatton beats both JMM and Pac,no doubt he is number 1 in my eyes.If Pac loses this fight, what fights are out there for him(in the remainder of 2009/early 2010)which he could realistically win and regain the no.1 spot?I don't see any.Same goes for Hopkins if we assume he won't be stepping up to fight anybody at CW
I see your point but he really has nothing to prove by fighting the contenders at that weight.Especially since he beat Paulie so convincingly-the man who was seen as the number 2 in the division and many picked him to beat Hatton. There is also the fact that Hatton only has a few fights left in him and he wants the biggest money fights out there-fighting for belts at 140 isn't the most lucrative option
Well he saw off his number 1 guy last fight... I don't think any off the "young guns" have done anywhere near enough yet to be able to say they're the best at 140.
watch and see if the fat wee ****er beats Pac he will be proclaiming himself the p4p king, guaranteed. The man is a ****.
No...that is to misread what Ricky meant. He meant he'd have to beat Marquez to ESTABLISH himself as p4p No1, not to BECOME p4p no.1. First you become p4p No.1, and then you establish yourself as (clearly) the p4p No.1 by taking out the best of the rest of the p4p competition. Just hype. Forget about it. I don't know why we have to go over the same old stuff again and again and again...
Cos certain fcuktards insist on starting threads about it again and again and again. Not naming any names, you all know who I'm referring to! I agree totally with the bit in bold though!
If he beats Pacquiao and Marquez then there can't be many arguments. Even though they are stepping up to 140 you'd have to pretty much be a Hatton hater to have a big problem with him being #1 after that.
Not to restart this debate, but I disagree with you. I am far, far from being a Hatton hater, but in my book he would not be the best in the world if he beat Pac and JMM...he'd have to beat a top 147 lbs fighter for that...:good ...Pac and JMM have climbed a hell of a lot to a weight far from the one at which they proved themselves as top fighters...they're bloody good, though, so they've compensated for that and managed to pull it off...eventually, going up even further, they're bound to lose, to lesser fighters, just because of the weight/size difference...(that's why we have divisions in the first place, and that's why we talk of p4p, rather than A beats B, so A is obviously better than B)...:good For Hatton to become p4p No.1, he doesn't even have to beat Pac or JMM...nevermind both...he has to beat either Mosley or Cotto and someone like Williams or another top fighter at 147...that's all it takes. If you say: but hang on, he's not good at that weight, and it's unfair...well...then why are Pacman/JMM expected to beat someone at a higher weight to prove they're better?? Pacman, for example, has proven more at 130-135 than Ricky at 140...so if we go by what they did at their ideal weights alone, Ricky cannot be better than Pacman...:good
when it comes to hatton,it aint the bush bettys beating, i can see him now, when pac lands on hatton,he will be pulling harder and harder and then, bang hatton lands one in the gut,pac lands on his ass, shrunken widgie time for dear mr betty:tired he is quite knowlagable, but when it comes to hatton,**** me the demons take over:fire
