Manchester's Ricky Hatton ponders a return to boxing

Hatton has 45 wins from 47 fights, 32 of which have been knockouts

Manchester's former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton admits he is considering a return to boxing.
In his last fight in May, the 31-year-old Hatton was knocked out in the second round in Las Vegas by Filipino great Manny Pacquiao.
Currently in Australia on a promotional tour, Hatton said of a comeback: "I'm going to have a good think about it over Christmas and the new year.
"But I'm starting to get the itch. I'd like to bow out in an absolute war."
Hatton has been hinting for months at a one-off return in the hope of finishing his career on a brighter note.

He was recently linked with a fight against Mexican three-weight world champion Juan Manuel Marquez, and Hatton said American legend Oscar de la Hoya was also an option.
"Those two would be on my hit list," said Hatton, who has 45 wins from 47 fights.
De la Hoya, a world champion at six weights, promoted Hatton's fights against Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, who stopped the Englishman in 10 rounds in 2007.
A fight between Hatton and De la Hoya and Hatton has been mooted for some time, although De la Hoya's retirement at the hands of Pacquiao last December appeared to have finished his career.
However, the chance of one final fight at the City of Manchester Stadium or Wembley could tempt De la Hoya back for one last fight.

I ****ing told everyone who would listen as soon as the Pac fight was announced what would happen. He'd get beat by pacquiao and would then have a bow out in Wembley against De La Hoya and get knocked out. **** I wished i'd have put money on that

And for the record Ricky, you haven't got it in you for a war. You start trading too many punches are your outta there early pal. Improve your defense, fight at Welter or you could end up like the man who was helping out in the opposite corner the last time you fought :good

  7. I like Ricky, but it would appear all the boiling down he's done over the years has affected him. Retirement is definitely his best option.

For one last fight, he'd have to lose about 5 stone.

But, if he wants to go out on his shield one last time, let him do it I say. He's earned the right. For all the silly thrash talking, and the manner in which he lost, he's still only ever been beaten by legitimate P4P#1 fighters.

I'd pick Khan too, definitely, and I'd hope they both came out swinging.

I even think Witter would generate alot of interest domestically still.

As mentioned though, DLH at Wembley is an absolutely massive money-spinner.

I fear for Hatton against De La Hoya, Marquez or Khan to be honest.

I think he should stay retired.

I respect Hatton, his 2 drawbakcs are probably his lack of ring intelligence and total ignorance of sporting nutrition.

Clinches aside I love his gung-ho style and he showed real heart in getting up from the Mayweather knock down when he was totally gone.

I think that Khan would beat Hatton...:yep

There is no doubting that Hatton will have a big fight and no doubt a war... if he wins, what does he do, have another...? until when...??

It is all about securing as many big paydays as possible...Hatton ain't gonna touch any of the elite... ODLH is an ATG, but way past his best... He is just a name on Hattons record if this fight is made...:yep
