Cotto wasn't making any noises about fighting Hatton at 140 either. They were both on the way up and had too much to lose (or their promoters did!!).
i can guarantee you that the vast majority of british people were as pissed off about that as you were obviously ricky hatton is not a joke .
I have more respect for Ricky than our Brit counterpart Calzaghe. He fought 3 HOF fighters stopped 2 of them and fought the best P4P in his own backyard, unlike Joe who has only fought once in the US vs an OAP
Hatton wasn't losing anything bar his zero at 147. Cotto's camp were certainly up for a Hatton fight, the Mayweather's were as well, Hatton was getting slated especially by R. Mayweather why he wasn't facing top names and fighting the easier fights, they opted for Maussa over Cotto and Mayweather, opted for Collazo over Baldomir and used the money thing to get out of it.
Read you ******, I said before the last post I said my ->opnion<- was that the Hatton camp were protecting his status at 140. The Hatton camp obviously wouldnt come out and say they are ducking these fights now are they.
How do you know Cotto was "up for Hatton" at 140. Neither fighter or their management made any serious attempts to make that fight. They were both unbeaten, on the way up and earning well...it was always a fight for down the road if both stayed at 140.
One loss in his ENTIRE career and you call him a JOKE!?! Not to mention a guy who draws 55k fans in the stadium? I would rather believe the 55k fans than believing in you!!! You are the joke and a hater at the same time!
The fight was in talks, before the Tszyu fight it was, Cotto was slagging Hatton off too, saying he had zero chance against Tszyu and others deserved it more, then the fight started to lose its steam after Cotto beat Abdulaev, it did seem they wanted the Harris/Maussa winner more than the Cotto fight.
