Lets not get carried away with Hatton. Hatton is good but he's no Cotto. Malignaggi, Witter, Torres, Judah, and Juan Diaz have a pretty good chance of beating Hatton. Cotto fought the overall better fighters compare to Hatton. The only big time fighter Hatton fought in their prime is Mayweather and we all know how that end up. Hatton is good but Cotto is better.

Here I'll take you through it.

Zab Judah. He gives everyone a tough fight for 3, 4 rounds, before losing heart and giving in. He gave Cotto plenty to handle for a few rounds. He even managed to get to Mayweather in the early part of their fight.

Judah's problem is once a fight starts slipping away, he gives up. He has NEVER come back from adversity. His stamina and heart are suspect. Stamina and heart are Hatton's strengths. Hatton is not as skilled as Judah, but he just keeps on coming, like a monster from the pit. Hatton would lose the first 4 rounds, then when Judah realized he couldn't take him out with a single punch he'd lose heart and Hatton would brutalize him. 116-112 Hatton UD.

Junior Witter? similar problem. he has enough skill to hurt Hatton on the way in on the counter. But Witter takes rounds off, cruises, and doesnt have any workrate at all. Just like Povetkin beat a skilled counter-puncher with his superior workrate Eddie Chambers, Hatton would outwork Witter and totally dominate him down the stretch. Hatton beat Eamonn Magee, who I consider a more skilled counter puncher than Witter, by out-boxing him and outworking him. He would do the same to Witter. 117-111 Hatton UD.

Ricardo Torres? Not big enough, not strong enough, he'd be competitive but he wouldn't be able to get into the fight. Torres is just the type of small 140lber that Hatton looks great against. Late stoppage Hatton.

Paulie Malinaggi? I used to think that Malinaggi's handspeed and quickness would give Hatton problems, but after seeing him against Ndgjoudgjo I think no. he doesn't hit hard enough to keep Hatton from coming in, and he's not as good on the counter as Witter. Hatton demolishes him.

Juan Diaz? More aggresive than torres, better fighter too, but isn't big enough. Just like Pacqauio. Hatton is a monster at 140lbs. Hatton wins a wide UD against Diaz and would stop Pacquiao in a one-sided beatdown.

Only guys who beat Hatton? Mayweather, Williams, Mosley and MAYBE Cotto.

Cotto gets beat by mayweather too y'know, and he wouldn't make it competitive or exciting like Hatton did. Hatton is more reckless and animalistic than Cotto, which is why he brought the A-Game out of Floyd. That was Floyd's best performance.

Floyd would cruise past cotto in a one-sided UD. You dont beat Mayweather with boxing skills, you beat him by fighting like a lunatic and non-stop pressure. Castillo proved it, De La Hoya had success with it, and **** even Hatton managed to make it interesting for 6 rounds through it. Cotto wouldn't even make it interesting.

I'm not saying that Hatton is a better fighter than Cotto, just that Hatton was more likely to beat Mayweather than Cotto is.

 

You are so biased towards Hatton it's not even funny. Based on what? That he only had 2 fights at 147, one that he almost got KOed by Collazo and the other that he got KOed by mayweather that is not that great of a puncher at welter.

I know you're a Hatton fan and I like Hatton too but I think you're wrong. Anyone of these guys have a good chance to beat Hatton. Judah would KO Hatton in 6 if there were fighting at 147. Judah can punch and would catch Hatton because of his lack of skill compare to Judah and Hatton bad defense. Junior Witter would KO Hatton like Mayweather did because just bullies his way in there and leaves himself open for a good couterpuncher with power. Torres could also beat Hatton if Torres catches Hatton but I would favor Hatton in this one. Paulie is a toss up fight for Hatton. It could go either way. Paulie has the speed,skill, and movement in the ring to beat Hatton. If Paulie fought the way he fought Cotto after the second round I can see him beating Hatton 8rds-4rds.If Paulie fights like he did the last fight I can see Hatton winning a UD. Hatton would not kill Paulie. This would be a close fight and Hatton would be the favorite. Juan Diaz can also beat Hatton because he's put enough pressure to force Hatton to try to box and I don't know if Hatton can. Hatton would also be the favorite in this fight. All these guys have the skills to beat Hatton and if Hatton can beat all these guys he deserve to be in the hall of fame. hatton would have no chance in 147 lbs.

 

Mosley AND Judah KO Hatton. If you're going to talk **** about Cotto in sake of Ricky Hatton you're making a mistake. It's so easy to say that "Cotto hasn't fought Floyd yet", its almost irrelevant

 

At least Cotto had the balls to fight Judah and Mosley. Hatton stays away from good boxers he rather face flat footed boxers. The only reason he fought Mayweather was for the payday, It was a win win situation for him because Mayweather is the P4P number 1 and Hatton moved up so he wouldnt look bad either way.
