Hatton is a 'Value for Money' fighter imho

Well what do you suggest, we lie and say he's exciting?

This is boxing not MMA. That **** wouldn't even qualify for MMA.

There is no coincidence in all of us thinking he's sleep inducing.

Shut up you idiot. So we all have to be Hatton haters to not like his style do we? Before you even say anything about Hopkins, don't bother, I strongly recommend you go & watch some of his earlier fights & also the Trinidad beatdown. Hopkins may not be good to watch now but he was, against class opposition, unlike Hatton who was only ever good to watch against cans during his WBU reign of terror.

I mean I criticise Joe for defending the WBO, another joke belt, but 15 defences of the WBU?

The thing is though, people legitimately think he is as good as Duran or Chavez. I'm not one of them, but it's not bollocks. Just for the record, I don't think either JCC or Duran were really exciting fighters either, though.

And the Mexican's do seem to like Hatton. Hardly like Jose Napoles, but he has his fans because of his face first style.

Personally, I'm not a fan. I don't like all the lunging punches. Watching him fight is like watching NFL. It's stop start all the time. I like combos, moving in and out, dancing and all that. Not punch, punch, hold. Punch, punch, hold.

    Trotter with his usual bollox.

I was about to name Hatton along with Ruiz and Hopkins as the most boring fighters in the sport, but as Dan B says at least Hopkins used to fight properly against class opposition..he's just old as **** now. So did Wlad, before he got layed out once too many times and resorts to similar grappling tactics now.
and last time I checked you don't hear Ruiz and Wlad comparing themselves to Mexican greats for excitement...unlike Wicky  . ****ing toe-curling.

Jack, who exactly thinks Hatton is as good as Duran or JCC?
Does anyone have Duran outside the top 10 p4p of all time? Or JCC outside the top 20 or so? I don't think many would.
And there are people who think Hatton is up there? :patsch . **** me. He's not even in the top 10 British fighters of all time.

I like watching guys like Toney, Whitaker, Duran......even a proper brawler/pressure fighter like Margarito I can enjoy....but not lunge-hit-hold-wrestle Hatton.

As good as them? I've never seen anyone be that naive. I thought you meant as exciting as them, which I have seen people claim.

I'm not too keen on guys like Toney or Whitaker. They're super skilled, but I prefer people who bring the fight. My favourite fighter of all-time is Joe Frazier and appreciate that style the most.

I love watching guys who throw punches like they wanna kill the guy every time. Like Gatti. He is so pleasing to watch, because he danced around the ring at times and when he threw combos, he got everything behind the punches. Pivoted at his waist and swung like he was batting for the Yankees. Frazier got everything behind his left hook too. He'd bob and weave and then plant his legs and let rip with a ferocious left hook. I love seeing that kind of punch.

I just just don't think Hatton is pleasing to watch. His punches aren't that heavy and don't seem like they're gonna really hurt someone. They lack the snap in them that I like to see. And then you have the annoying holding all the time. Ugh.

I think Hatton has a terrific personality. He is a nice guy who does lots for charity and has stayed humble. His jokes may get repeated but he is funny, but the thing which stops me from being a big fan is him is his style. I don't think he has awful fights, but I don't like them either.

I must say mate for a writer your grammar is terrible. Spell check must be a real god send for you. As for the
comment. Are you saying you are not prepared to converse with anyone who has a differing opinion to yourself? Thats really not anyway to go through life & will seriously hinder your career in journalism.

I must admit I found Hatton more exciting at international level but as he has moved into world class he's become less exciting. But i'd rather watch Ricky the Calzaghe any day of the week.

Ricky doesnt offer ANY value for money. His last fight was a money spinning scam. Thats not value for money. His umpteen defences of the WBU was hardly value for money when i had to pay a SKY subscription to watch it.

Yes, yes you are all haters.

    And boring too.

In this thread people have complained about £500 tickets. FFS don't buy them then. The price is simply market forces.

And 'I had to take a Sky subscription to watch him' - that's a funny complaint for someone who doesn't think he's value for money. You went to those lengths to make sure you could watch him? Or is it actually just a cheap shot? Because the same complaint goes for more or less every fighter, bar the recent ITV deal, over the last decade.

And now 'Betty' claims he's one of the most boring fighters in the sport. Yeah right. I bet you like Witter.

Yet I'm the idiot... I don't think so.

The little clique of haters on here, seriously, are pathetic. The stuff you come out with is so hypocritical it's untrue. I'd debate anything with anyone but you lot are just stuck in a rut churning out the same old, same old.

He can a be unsatisfying, to watch at times, with his holding, there is no doubt about that.

Having said that, after his last fight against Lazcano, I did a poll in the main forum (because he is always getting labelled with the mentioned criticism), and even though that forum has a large number of Americans, 80 percent of those who voted stated they very much enjoyed the fight, and found it entertaining.

Thats what "FANS" do. They WATCH there sport. Now naturally on SKY there are a plethora of fighters. Ricky happens to be one of them. Im sure your aware of that alarming fact. As a "FAN" of boxing naturally i watch British fighters in anticipation of there fights and how there career pans out. I watched ALL of Hattons WBU defences under the auspices of "World title boxing". As a FAN i think im MORE than entitled to criticise him as thats my right as fan and a paying subscriber. If you cant understand that basic principle then i suggest you get your head out of your ass.

    Reasons to criticise Hatton......

    1. Overplaying the 'I'm normal....' card
    2. Claiming he was a world champion whilst holding the WBU belt, and making 15 'defences'
    3. Taking the most lucrative financial option instead of career option (ala Mayweather, DLH etc)
    4. Ducking Junior Witter and fighting guys that would have a lesser effect on his legacy than Witter - under the guise of 'he sells no tickets'. Message to Ricky..... how many tickets do Vilches, Pedersen and Lazcano sell?

    Reasons to criticise the haters......

    1. Moaning about paying a Sky subscription. I am sure you watched some of their other coverage, such as rugby league, cricket, football etc, and Sky News?
    2. Being hypercritical - lets be honest, it is something we all do.
    3. Jealousy of a successful sportsman - face it, over here once a guy is good or at the top he is there to be shot at. See Andrew Flintoff, Ian Botham, Paul Gascoigne etc.
    4. Statements based on opinion rather than fact.

Seems all much of a muchness to me - Hatton is a bit of a fraud, but equally a very good fighter, and seems a decent bloke. But could be honest instead of bullshitting with all this 'It's for the fans....' stuff.

People would respect him a lot more if he just admitted it was for the $$$. When Kevin Pietersen said he wanted to play in the IPL he admitted money was a consideration, and nobody criticised (mainly because the Indians were paying) so why doesn't Ricky. Honesty is very refreshing IMO.
