Personally I don;t see how Hatton can claim the p4p title after being knocked out by Mayweather.........nearly losing to Collazo......the ref saved him against Lacazano who had him hurt.....

He goes up against the likes of Juan Manual Marquez who I feel beat Pac both times.....and was blatantly robbed in the second fight.
Shane Mosley who clearly turned in a marquis performance recently.
Cotto whose loss to Margarito has become highly questionable.
Pac who sent Oscar into retirement and blimished his hall of fame chances now and forever.
Paul Williams who recently pummeled a man who has never before been pummeled on his way to a lopsided decision, in a Marquis performance.
Floyd Mayweather who is back in action, undefeated, and figures out ways to beat anyone.

Saturday will be a rude awakening for Ricky.
He might make it 7 rounds........but I suspect the fight will end before 10.

I agree on all points except on what "you feel about Marquez" winning twice against Pac.

To me pound for pound being the subjective title that it is - It would have to be a crushing one sided victory for Hatton to even crack the top 5.

If he wins a tight 7-5 kinda fight on points, then that's not enough to be a pound for pound performance.

To me, he needs to do a Pac/Goldy in reverse and dominate and stop Pac.

If for example Hatton got dropped and cut and still won the fight - That's not a P$P performance.

If gets dominated and blitzed with speed for 8 rounds and then stops a tiring Pac, that's not a P4P type of performance.

That last example makes me think of what people and the media would say if Joey Maxim went around following the Ray Robinson fight and said "I'm the best fighter in the sport" as a result.

I really couldn't see Hatton going higher than 5 on any list really.

I think are rematch with Mayweather, if Hatton wins, with a neutral referee would make him a great champion.

Man I kinda like Ricky but I always end up rooting against him. He's making an assclown of himself really but his fans and his media are buying it. Ridiculous.

Unbelievable. I went on the 'Skyports.com' website and there were all these 'you're going to be p4p king, Ricky!' comments there.

I posted "if Ricky wins the fight it will be a great victory, but it won't mean he is 'p4p king', that's not the way it works. Hatton keeps repeating it, and the British media is pandering to it, but it's bollocks. When will this nonsense end?"

..and guess what? The post never made it to the page! The editor deleted it and it never appeared!

Wow. Always be aware of the media, people. Especially Murdoch media. It's propaganda all the way.

oh god, just imagine all the British tabloids the next day if he does win. It'll almost ruin the whole achievement: "Hatton is p4p king". right.

If he beats Pac and Mayweather in a rematch then he's P4P #1 in my eyes.

    That's pretty ****ing unlikely, though.

Problem is that a huge amount of Hatton's fan base are not boxing afficianados, they like to watch the sport when Hatton fights, and possibly Joe Calzaghe but that is it. They are not well versed in what p4p actually means, and as such if Hatton bangs the p4p drum enough then those PPV numbers will sky rocket come Saturday/Sunday..... I suspect that Hatton knows a victory over Manny does not propel him into the No 1 spot, and probably would push him into the top 5 at best.

What people need to do IMHO is stop bleating on about any slight thing Hatton says, the forums are full of it.

Lets just try and enjoy what will be a guaranteed all action type of fight with 2 boxers in their prime, who only know aggression.

Good luck to both guys and cant wait till 4am Sunday morning!!!

Guess you don't have Marquez in your top five as he didn't get a crushing one sided victory over Pacquiao. In fact his only win against a P4P fighter was against Barrera which was hardly crushing and he got dropped, so you wouldn't consider that a P4P performance.

Hopkins last fight against a top P4P fighter he not only failed to win crushingly, but lost to Calzaghe, so you can't have him in there.

Mosley lost to Cotto and his last fight against a top ten P4P fighter he lost to Cotto. His win against Margarito was impressive as it goes but it seems you would have agreed with me and not had Margarito any higher than 25 P4P on the basis of beating Cotto because, as you rightly say, 'getting dominated and blitzed with speed for 8 rounds before stopping a tiring fighter' isn't a P4P type of performance.

Kinda begs the question of who you do have in your top five and how they got there?
