Harsh and unnecessary. Hatton should be proud of giving what he felt he needed to do a shot even if the decision itself was totally misguided.

I wish Hatton the best...he's a great bloke who has sadly fallen on tough times...can and does happen to any of us...I hope he can get himself together and live a good life from here on out...I'll always be a fan...I remember years again watching him on ITV...I'll never forget those memories

When I heard about his depression and comeback attempt, I couldn't help but think it would be just a temporary band-aid. I'm no psychologist but if he said losing those fights and missing the sport/sense of purpose were the main factors for his depression (I'm sure alcohol abuse didn't help), well it's not like he's gonna fight forever and he was bound to lose, whether it be sooner or later.
