Absolutely gutted. Looks likes its true hes gonna announce it tomorrow when hes gonna be questioned by journalists now the story has broke.

I am absolutely gutted. the ricky hatton comeback was the thing i was looking forward to most this year. **** Pac-Mayweather and Haye-Klit. Favourite fighter of all time has just retired. I'm gutted.

He is basically quitting because he is a lazy lardass. I'm not criticizing him, but he obviously wanted to box again to redeem himself but just by being so fat and undisciplined he can't do it.

Its not laziness its not having the desire anymore theres a difference. to redeem himself he needs to beat a world class fighter whats the point in beating some average fighter. And to beat a marquez or bradley he needs to be the old ricky hatton and he just doesnt have it no more. I think its admirable hes so honest wth himself. Sometimes its the hardest thing to do, look at Ali.

plus hes got a few things pulling him in the other direction. Like his promotion company to run and the worries of his family to put first. Tragic ending to his career.

Fair play at least he is safe in the knowledge he gave it a crack although I imagine he will always question whether his lifestyle hindered his chances at winning the p4p title !

I think its got to do with him not finding his ideal trainer.

He didn't even give himself a chance by ballooning up 50 pounds, he is the one who said he wanted to continue and no boxer wants to go out like he did.

I always thought that people were exaggerating with the "he must retire" talk. Hatton is in his early 30's and was only starched by the two best boxers in the world. He certainly could have competed with both Marquez and Bradley, neither of which are big punchers. I would even have picked him against Marquez if he had a tiny bit of professionalism in-between fights.

If he's the one that decides to retire then no one should question it, he knows best and his last loss was a devastating dangerous one.

    "HATTON IS RETIRING!!!!"

Way to make yourself look like a complete dickhead. Can't you at least form a half decent post?

Oh yeah, because Marquez is some monster at 140. Even a powder puff puncher like Diaz stunned him.

Well at least now Hatton can really let himself go...here's to you Ricky :beer
