Heard he was looking at Alexander as a possible opponent. Would've been a perfect win to go out on, with him not being seen as that powerful he could've gone out in the war he wanted, even if he lost. Maybe after seeing him KO Urango he realised he didn't want it anymore.

Yea mate thats a fair point but Marquez only looked so bad because he was fighting a peak floyd. and tht was at 147. Fighting Hatton he'd be half a stone closer to his natural weight. But thats not even the reason its the styles tht made Marquez favourite with all the bookies. Being the notorious counter puncher that he is and Hatton still blocking with his chin he wouldda defo struggled.

As we all know- a boxer never truly retires- he just stops fighting for money. I somehow think that he ll take a longer break- and eventually find his way back to the ring once his life is straightened, and he gets a bit bored. I think the longer he takes off though- the harder and less likely it will be- as it was with Naseem- who put on alot of weight too. I just think the last fight put the fear of god into him- but also that he wont want to go out like that- he just needs time to get his confidence and self back- it would have been traumatic getting cold cocked like that.

Its a shame he doesn't take one more fight in Manchester for the fans. It wouldn't have to be against a difficult opponent, just a win to go out on and for the fans who travelled to Vegas for either of his last 2 fights

I'm not a nob. You just hate being told you are a paranoid attention seeking *****. Just like the "Boxrec is no more" idiot who assumed the site was wiped off the net because it was down for a while.

    Gets boring

I wish he could've retired on a better note but that includes most fighters too. I hope he stays in shape and lives happy.Happy, not fat, happy.

i would like to see him fight one last time against a bum fighter... he should not end his career having his last fight on WWE.

you mean like hatton vs. hatton (matthew)? i was looking forward to him fighting against JMM..that would have been a good fight and a good way to end his career. If he loses against JMM, it would not be by KO but he has a good chance of winning the fight.

He was a two-time IBF and IBO light welterweight world champion, WBA Welterweight Champion, WBU, WBA Light Welterweight Champion and WBC, WBA, WBO Inter-Continental Light Welterweight Champion, and former Ring magazine Junior Welterweight Champion.

lost to the two best fighters of his generation, and had a bigger fan base than your favorite boxers favorite boxer...

im gutted hes retiring, even though I know its for the best.... Ill miss going to his fights with countless other brits chanting "Theres only one ricky hatton"
