Hatton's a ****ing hypocrite, one minute telling us he's oneof the lads (still hangs out with his mates around the way), the next he's booking front row tickets for Mr Golden Balls (aka David "bling bling" Beckham)! ...there are so many reasons to hate this leprachan!
That annoying **** Lonsdale was going on about it yesterday, as were four or five other English posters who were posting clips of Hatton knocking out some journeyman in Atlantic City with a bodyshot when he was 21 years old and explaining that's what's going to happen on Sat. Basically overall you get the idea from the English posters (especially those that for some oh so odd reason felt the urge to join recently) that he's the ****ing second coming of Jesus. Cool guy I'm sure but this blind nationalism amongst certain English fans, especially when it's to the point where they tell other people in the UK who are supporting PBF that they're 'traitors,' is ****ing annoying.
Hatton is so very modest. I loved this recent interview I saw, where he says something like, "I want to say this while being fair to me mate Jose Louie Castillo. But I am a better fighter than he ever was in his prime, faster, stronger, a better body puncher, etc, etc. I don't see how Mayweather can beat me." Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating and it's not that big of a deal. But I agree with people who are saying in this thread that his modest, nice guy act isn't completely genuine. It is also an attempt to rally the fans behind him, making it a working class underdog story versus the ultra talented, but spoiled and impersonal athlete. Floyd really isn't that much of an *******. I don't like the way he behaves, but at the same time, I can understand a marquee athlete not wanting to play Mr. Nice Guy all the time and sign autographs for three hours every time he steps out of the house.
Aye I can see that, just like when every non American fighter is called a "Euro bum" by the nationalistic lot on here and I am told that Pavlik would destroy Calzaghe, we heard how Witter was going to get destroyed by Harris and now people are saying Kessler is crap etc.... Mindless fans are the bane of this sport and lots of them seem to come here.
These kind of threads are proof that no matter what, if you want to hate a fighter you WILL find something to moan about. The list goes on and on: - Winky has such a good defense, let's brand him boring. - Shane always has good things to say about other fighters, he lacks a personality. - Oscar fights everyone in close entertaining fights. Let's hate him for fading in a few fights. - Vitali has such a high KO-percentage, well he must have only been fighting bums then. I respect all of these fighters. I see fighters in my gym who are at amateur level and I respect how good some of them are. When I see professional fighters train I'm in awe over their abilities. How the hell can you hate Hatton is beyond me. You might not be a fan or don't like his style but calling him arrogant?atsch
Harris isn't American. striiiiike 1:thumbsup p.s. I guess you'll call me a traitor now for supporting Floyd:roll:
I hate to claim Harris as one of our own because I've never liked him. But I think that a person's place of birth, as well as their adopted homeland, should be acknowledged. Strike, most American fans are sensible and not so blinded by nationalism. Witter was a 5-2 favorite against Harris. A lot of us knew that he was going to lose (and were pleasantly surprised when he got KO'd). And regarding the other examples you mentioned, we all know that Calzaghe-Pavlik would be a great fight, and that Kessler is awesome. It's just the small minority of dumbasses trashing non U.S. fighters just because of where they're from- they just stick out more.
No, support who you want. But you clearly missed the point, Harris was based in America and was adopted by much of NYC. The point was he had fought almost his entire career in the US and as such had not only exposure but people seeing him as one of theres. Witter being British is a euro bum, hence the point I made.
You are probably right. Similarly most sensible UK fans do not think Hatton will destroy PBF they just would love it to happen and plenty of British fight fans are big fans of US fighters. The idiots always make the most noise I guess.
I've been sick of Hatton ever since he got pummeled against Collazo. That working class hero bull**** is just gonna make it sweeter when Floyd beats him.
is Hatton even from the working class? and by the way, he DOES come out with this bull****, unprompted. He does it all the time. I could only laugh in the lead up to the Castillo fight when he out of the blue he said Mexicans like because he fights like one. What the ****? How often did you see Chavez, Morales, JMM and all the others hold and hug like that?:-( he did the same with the bollocks about having a hangover when he was gonna get the MBE from the queen. It's cheesy as **** and boring. I'm close to supporting sorry ass Mayweather in this fight. Not that it matters to anyone.
It's like this, I think: just imagine you would have to come up with a convincing story about your life that would give a first-time reader or listener the impression you want about you, as a person and fighter. And then imagine you have to repeat that story hundreds of times a year...you can see how you can start to caricature yourself; it's like when you go for many job interviews one after another: So, tell us what skills and qualities you have; Oh, blah, blah, blah...you keep repeating the same **** again and again - and you start becoming more and more convincing saying it until you start sounding like some kind of a self-assured ego-maniac...when in fact, you're just becoming very good at playing that tape...know what I mean?:think
hardly bread and water stuff though was it? Christ, I guess most of the board is from a working class background. where abouts is Billy Graham from? On the 24/7 show they said he's from one of Mnachester's worst ghettos.
