Hatton is the greater fighter in my eyes than Joe Calzaghe? why?

I dont see the relevancy to this conversation. i've always picked a prime
jones over calzaghe and i've always thought Spinks would be too big for him.

anyways back to the hopkins discussion, what makes you say he was past it? was it that Calzaghe made him look bad when he feigned low blows, or the fact that he demolished pavlik?

By the way, I think Calzaghe the better fighter, I just have more respect for Hatton getting in there with beasts in their prime.

Who knows how ridiculous Joe might or might not have looked against top 30-50 or so ATG's in their primes.

Calzaghe vs PRIME Hopkins woulda been Calzaghe-mid 40's Hopkins round 1-4 for the whole 12 rounds.

Calzaghe's wins over B-Hop and RJJ are similar to Trevor Berbick's win over Ali.

Tell me which fight Hatton looked great in again?

Silly **** gets hit too often, so he brawled out a robbery decision against Tszyu - with Dave Parris' help - and then does what?

Fights the mighty Maussa - who?

Moves up to 147 and looks ordinary against Collazo.

Comes back down to 140 and looks ordinary against Urango.

    Beats an extremely shot Castillo.

Gets whooped by Mayweather in a one-sided embarrassment.

Looks ordinary in his 'pick-a-tomato-can-opponent' homecoming against Lazcano.

    Stops Paulie

Gets stopped in 2 by Manny.

What's so great about that? :think

The best fight on his resume was the Tszyu fight and he needed to use every dirty tactic in the book plus the ref's assistance to win.

IrnBruMan, your Calzaghe ship - that's been sailing on hot air for a few years now - had a huge hole blown in its side last night... better get patching it up.;):yep

What does demolishing Pavlik have to do with anything?

Simply put, the guy was in his mid FORTIES...

Now Hopkins 8 years earlier at 36, against Trinidad? That's more prime, to me (and would result in a repeat of the first four rounds for the entire fight, however long it lasted)

Trinidad was a much smaller guy, and Calzaghe also would have done KO'd him, now that's and easy pick.

I never really put much emphasis on the tito win for hopkins.

    Fair enough, though.

My point wasn't about the person Hopkins fought though... It was more him having EIGHT years more youth at that time than in the Calzaghe fight.

Similar to how, say, Sugar Ray Robinson was considered a faded fighter in his 40s... despite still gaining a few good victories during this time... doesn't mean he's not past his "prime".

No it didn't mate - how Kessler fares in a fight 2 years after Calzaghe beat him, when he was undefeated and had been active against good opposition, says absolutely zero about Calzaghe's legacy.

You should be ****ing ashamed of yourself, jumping on board with these ******ed revisionists - you can tear any fighter's resume apart using that 'logic'.

For example - what did Tszyu, Maussa, Collazo, Urango, Castillo, Lazcano and Malignaggi go on to do after Hatton fought them?

We can extrapolate further and diminish one of Mayweather's biggest wins - Castillo got KOd in 4 by Hatton, yet provided one of Mayweather's toughest tests.

What does that say about Mayweather? :think

    Idiot :deal

Calzaghe's legacy was affected last night and I think most people apart from a few ardent hardcore fans would agree with that.

    Where's Joe anyway?

The day after Hopkins beat Pavlik he couldn't give enough interviews.

Calzaghe is an ATG in terms of ability. His resume is **** which keeps out of the discussion for ATG, but doesnt take away from his talent.

Hatton was always a very flawed guy who thought challenged better fighters then slap, still got obliterated
