a lot of fighters peak at around hattons age due to mix of experience and youth.not to young and unexperienced but not too old and still enough stamina. even all the champions at ufc are over 30 (with the exception of georges st.pierre who isnt far off at 28) hatton has only lost two fights both of which to p4p no1 and no2 in the world but i still think he may be past it. with all that being said i would love to see hatton v bradley. what are your thoughts?
My thoughts are that Hatton is a tough gutsy fighter who simply never possessed the skills to hang with the elite fighters. I don't care how old or young he is, Hatton would never beat Mayweather or Pac, not on the best day of his life.
Hatton is fine, he just ran into a style in boxing that overpowered his and left him destroyed early. Did Duran have to retire after Hearns blew him out?, did Hearns have to retire after Hagler blew him out?, did Lewis have to retire after BOTH Rahman and McCall blew him out?, did Ruiz have to retire after Tua blew him out?, did Haye have to retire after Thompson blew him out?, did Frazier have to retire after Foreman blew him out?, did Norton have to retire after Foreman blew him out?, did Wladimir have to retire after Sanders and Brewster blow him out? and the examples are ENDLESS in this sport. Wake the **** up newbies.
Hatton is fine IMO too. He just need to stay fit better BETWEEN training camps. You can't keep ballooning up then back down every 4-5 months and expect your body to stay in 100% efficient form.
Hattons record says he lost to two of the best P4P fighters of all time. Yet he constantly gets berated on here. I'd rather he didn't fight again but if he conditioned himself properly I have no doubt he could go on for another 2-3 years if he really wanted it enough - and the only people he'd lose to would be Pac and Mayweather.
:good Agreed!! Ricky's indiscipline between training camps has always been of concern to those closest to him.
Very good fight, Hatton has a good chance but Bradley is just too good. Bradley is very underrated and a very smart fighter, the guy is extremely good and it's sad to see him not get the attention he deserves, that will hopefully come in the long run. Hatton has the guts to take this fight.
his case is similar to some1 like fernando vargas, outside the ring he didnt treat his body right and inside the ring he fought recklessly right now hes still badly damaged from a murderous knockout and he's severely overweight to be fighting at 10st there isnt anything left for him other then fighting khan in england and if he loses there, i'm sure whatever reputation he has left among some of his manchester fans would be lost forever
^:deal^ Yes, Hatton/Bradley would be very good to see. It'd give us/him a better gauge on where he is.
did Wladimir have to retire after Sanders and Brewster blow him out? and the examples are ENDLESS in this sport. Wlad doesn't get enough credit for this....he was supposedly "exposed" against Sanders and was totally written off in the loss to Brewster, and now 6 years later he is the Ring heavyweight champ... what other heavy has done this to this degree?
the problem i have is not the defeats or really evan the manner of them (anyone can get 1 timed if they fight with thier chin in the air) but its the fact that even against Lazcano he got wobbled - he had walked through everything Tzyu through at him barely batterd an eyelid but then cant handle a shot from lazcano?? Hes going into every fight now with out his punch resistance. Mayweather, Collazo, Pac, Urango, the columbian fellla with the weird style (name escapes me) and even fights with Thaxton have taken there toll on him now HOpefully he wins a decent fight and then calls it a day
Whatever happens I don't want to see Hatton v Kahn. I've never been a fan of these big same-country fights and the UK ones have a habit of being embarassing for one of them. The big fights that fans call for always end in lots of tears. Lewis v Bruno saw a galant Bruno get his head battered. Haye v Maccarinelli saw Enzo get utterly trashed in epic style. The only 'big' fights that were exceptions were the classics between Benn and Eubank - and even then Nigel got a hammering overall. That said, I would pay as much as was demanded to watch Joe Calzaghe shut the mouth of Carl Froch once and for all. But it'll never happen.
No disrespect Ragamuffin man, but Ricky Hatton would imo lose to more than just Floyd and Manny, particularly at 147, which is the weight he is supposed to be returning at. Like you I would rather he didn't fight again, but only Ricky will know when he is calling it quits. Of course, if he does return I would much rather he returned at 140, but as long as he is in great shape that would do me. And as you rightly state, if he can get in great shape he could easily have another 2 years at least. If he is to return at 147 how about him fighting Lovemore N'dou? Or the winner of the Kell Brook-Michael Jennings fight?
