I know my score is not a popular one, but I stand by it. I will say though that two of the rounds that I scored for Lazcano could have gone either way and were pretty close, but I felt he edged them out by landing the cleaner blows. Hatton certainly did not impress yesterday, and like I stated in an earlier thread it seems he is destined to be one of those fighters who after they suffer their first KO loss are never the same again confidence wise and in their ability to take a good punch on the noggin. This is mostly a psychological barrier that seems to affect many fighters today, mostly due to the fact that they have it their way for so long that when they finally incur a loss they do not know how to cope with it. Hatton to me looked unsure of himself and rather hesitant at times, and I get the impression that he will never be the same again now that his "0" is gone. Anyways, say what you will about my score, but it sure as hell is better than that of those two clowns who had it 118-108 and 118-110 respectively.
Your entitled to your opinion, but I think I have been following this sport long enough to know what it is that I was watching yesterday, and it sure as hell wasn`t the one-sided fight so many are implying it was on here. Lazcano landed the more meaningful and accurate punches throughout the fight, the one thing that hurt him was that due to his inactivity and ring rust along with his wear and tear from a long career he wasn`t able to keep up any sustained attack for too long. Had this been the Lazcano of just two years ago he would have beaten this Hatton and maybe even stopped him... Hatton looked like **** yesterday and he sure as **** didn`t dominate Lazcano.
A lackluster 9 to 3. Too much clinching. Lazcano caught Hatton a couple of times but beyond that his combinations were way too infrequent. I actually think Hatton had Lazcano hurt at one point to where the old Hatton would have finished him off with a 10 to 12 punch barrage that would have made the ref step in. Not last night's careful Hatton. A first knockout loss is a big deal in a fighter's life. He got his chin checked. What he learned only he knows.
All right. It wasn't 114-114. Ricky won (117-111, IMO) But 114-114 is a far saner score for that fight than 120-108. Who got rocked on two different occasions, and who neede a friendly ref to provide a minut's recovery time when he was on ***** street? Ricky won the fight, fair and square, but the reffing and some of the scoring were a disgrace.
