Ricky just isn't good enough to compete with the likes of Pacquiao and Mayweather. I wouldn't say he let down boxing he's been fighting like that for 46 fights.
Just rewatching it now and this is what Floyd Sr. said in the corner (more or less, I'm not fluent in Mayweathernese): "What did I tell you about moving your head man? You've got move your head, you've got to feint, you can't fall in like that and overpower him, don't overpower him, keep your hands up man. You should have been listening to me from day one."
He did not let 'boxing down', he went out on his shield against the P4P king. The only people who have let boxing down are all the idiots and haters who have surfaced today to give their reactionary and ill-judged opinions to anyone that will listen.
I think there was a power struggle in the cap and Hatton sided with the British lads against Floyd Which is ludicrous when a man as talented and experienced as Floyd Sr is trying to tell you things are wrong He may be a dick but Floyd has fought at a high level, trained at the highest level and produced the most gifted fighter of his generation
As said,I think he let boxing down. There would've been alot of new fans watching his fight and if he fought the correct fight ,it could've been a classic. Forget about hard core fans of either fighter,everybody missed out on a great fight because Ricky fought like a chump. BTW-Not a hater here,been to plenty of Hattons fights(not abroad tho)
Floyd hinted that the problem was between himself and Lee Beard so you may have a case there.I agree though if Mayweather had his way Hatton would of been boxing with his hands up,using the jab and moving his head like he said inbetween rounds.Not whaling in straight lines like he has done in the past
Putting in a bad performance does not equate to letting boxing down. And these 'new fans' you speak off will have been thrilled by what Pacquiao did.
