Umm all you guys need to know is that when Mayweather decided to turn it up one gear, the fight was over....and it was not close.
What the hell were you watching???? I gave him the fifth round (I think it was the fifth) and all the rest to Mayweather.
.......and Mayweather landed all the punches. Do you score for walking forward and getting hit in the face the most times?
I don't know what this fight suppose to prove for Mayweather. Most people (such as myself) were hoping for Hatton to win, but he didn't as expected. The only real losers are the people who betted on Hatton, if this fight wasn't hyped so much, then most people wouldn't have seen this as 50-50 match up.
I've been scoring fights for 27 years, and I've got to say that I agree with you. I've scored many fights that dont involve known fighters, these are the types that judges are usually not biased in.....and my scoring is usually in line with there's so I am very confident that I know how to score a fight. 27 years of constantly scoring does that to you. Without hesitation he're how I scored the Hatton-Mayweather fight.... Rounds 1,2,3,5, and 6 for Hatton Rounds 4, 7,8,and 9 for Mayweather. With the point deduction from Cortez that I felt was bogus (Mayweather turned his back on Hatton) I had the fight dead even at 85-85 at the time of stoppage! The way I saw it, Hatton controlled the pace and tempo of the fight through the first 6 rounds.....crowding Mayweather and getting the better of the inside exchanges. Credit must go to Mayweather for being competitive with Hatton on the inside. ....unfortunately for Hatton, his attack was'nt enough to debilitate Mayweather to the extent that Hatton could take over the late rounds. I thought both fighters were fatigueing, but the fact that Hatton was also fatigueing and being less aggressive, gave Mayweather the punching room he needed to get his jab off from distance. .....before the 6th round, Mayweather never had the room to even get off his jab, but he started utilizing it more toward the last couple of rounds to great effect as it was throwing Hatton off balance. Mayweather on my card had won the previous three rounds rather handily......Hatton realised this and made a choice to push the fight no matter that his body was telling him that it might not be wise. You see, this is what I respect about Ricky Hatton.....fighters like DLH have seldom blown his leads on the cards by fighting the last several rounds to survive and not necessarily to win...... Hatton knew that there was only one way for him to win and that was to push the fight till he gave out.....he did that in the face of fatigue, and got caught....... .....that was a huge left hook he attempted to land on Mayweather and he needed something big to turn the tide of the fight back in his favor. .....unfortunately for Hatton, Mayweather was too good a fighter to let him get away with such risk. I respect Hatton that he left it all in the ring......and I'm respectful of Mayweather that like all true greats before him, he rose to the occasion and dug deep when Hatton was imposing his style and aggression on him through the first half of the fight. Thats what great fighters do.....Mayweather looked uncomfortable in close quarters vs Hatton, but he never panicked or lost his cool.
