He also came to the ring before Manny and at the time I didn't think too much of it but thinking about it now, he looked very nervous, tense. Sounded like he was trying to instill confidence in himself with all those bold statements rather than actually believing them.

After the first round when Mayweather sr was talking to him in the corner, Ricky didn't hear a word of what Mayweather said to him. It was like he'd already given up and didn't want to listen.


I'm a Pac nuthugger btw before I get accused of making excuses for Ricky. I felt sad for Hatton though, glad he's okay.

The camp focused too much on CHANGING Ricky but not actually creating a gameplan, they would make him look sharp on the heavy bag and pads but what about sparring? was he really transferring those skills into his sparring? I doubt it. Why wasn't there more southpaws in sparring?

Overall, too much focus on changing Ricky as a fighter but not actually creating a gameplan, Freddie Roach makes gameplans, he practices them with the fighter, and then gets them to execute them when the timing is correct, thats my Manny won, he had that perfectly timed hook practiced and evaluated in his camp as part of the game plan.

 

Yeah ,he did look like a beaten man during his entrance. It was quite strange to see. Not sure I agree with Manny would beat any version of Ricky though. The Hatton who beat Kostys Tszyu would tear him a new one imo.

The ballooning weight etc all seems to have caught up with him and something was definitely up with team Hatton last night. Almost as if their had just been a big bust up in the dressing room or something. His GF even looked as though something was up during his ring walk.

 

I agree, Roach can take a lot of credit for last night's fight.

 

he did seem totally beaten between rounds. No fire nada ! It was a shame to see. That could be down to a number of things, but credit has to go to Pac.

 

I knew it was gonna go all wrong when he didnt have Blue Moon playing on his entrance and all the Hatton fans seemed really subdued...it was all a bit weird.

He looked nervous as hell, much like when he fought Mayweather. Billy Graham didnt help his nerves then and wouldnt have done last night either

 

He looked very nervous and slightly gaunt, stress?Where Pac looked great,happy and confident and rightly so.

It was a sad sight to behold for me personally....

 

Shouldnt have got rid of Billy. Graham knew how to work to Hattons strengths. Snr would never have a clue. You cant change a guys style fundamentally. You can only make adjustments to what there already capable of.

 

Totally agree.Its like when naz got rid of ingle, i dont care who he had in his corner after that,he was never going to be as effective.

 

So true. And despite being a big fan of Naz i hated him for dumping Ingle and putting Suarez and Manny in his corner. NEITHER man did ANYTHING for him or his style and the rot had already settled in.

 

Stop blaming this fight on Mayweather Sr., he showed Ricky what to do but in the end Ricky wasn't good enough to put it into practice. NO version of Ricky Hatton could ever beat the Manny Pacquiao that showed up.

 

I don't think anyone is blaming Mayweather Sr. here. I think the point is that Hatton and Graham go way back. You need that sense of normality, and the friendship of a life long coach going into a big fight.
