Cotto couldn't even handle Hatton's pressure even if he was in his prime. Hence Arum keeping Cotto away from Hatton at 140 when Hatton just raped Tszyu.

Don't forget Cotto can't handle pressure. Hatton's chin in his prime took hard shots from Tszyu, Collazo, and Mayweather so i'm sure Hatton can take Cotto's punches. Malignaggi took Cotto's punches i'm sure Hatton can too.

 

I've never had a problem with the guy, I've seen a good portion of his fights, and I always rooted for him except against Tszyu and Pacquiao, I'm just calling it like it is. I won't let my being a fan of his blind me to the truth.

 

I doubt Hatton could handle Cotto's shots, not to mention he can box well enough to stay away if he needed to.

He took shots from Tszyu, I'll give him that, but Kostya was past it, and the ref let Ricky wrestle him, so Tszyu was never really able to get some good clean right hands off from range.

But hard shots from Collazo? Really? Does Collazo even throw hard shots? Last I checked, Collazo was not a power puncher. Come to think of it, neither is Mayweather, and Hatton was KTFO by him.

Now, if Hatton and Cotto were to fight this year, I'm not so sure Cotto would KO him, since he's basically damaged goods, but He'd still get a decision over him. And he'd definitely TKO him back when they were both at 140.

 

hatton's style and lack of defence means that if he loses he's likely to lose badly by ko, it's all or nothing. but that doesn't mean that his style waqs easy to overcome. it took the two best boxers of this generation to do it.

 

i meant with the obvious exception of pac, who no one comes close to beating at 140, with the exception of pbf possibly.

who has bradley beaten that comes close to a prime hatton? he's still relatively unproven at the highest levels yet, hatton beat a #3 and a #8 p4p fighter and only lost to 2 p4p #1 fighters. bradley hasn't fought a fighter who's in the top 30 p4p yet.

and as far as cotto goes, cotto was beatable at 140. if he could wear down and make koysta quit with his relentless style, he was capable of doing it to cotto who didn't have the greatest beard at 140.

Mayweather wouldve done that to anyone.

I think Floyd goes to school on anyone at 140-147 atm.

Only fighter who could beat Floyd is Mosely at 147.

 

Hatton's done really well with the talent he had.

 

I still think if Hatton was an American there would be alot less **** talked about him!

physically he is a welterweight...he put his body under so much duress balooning and cutting back down to 140.

 

Hatton was and always will be a shitty boxer. He's overrated and he sucks, there is nothing more to say. I don't know why boxing fans rank him so highly.

 

because he was the ring champ at 140 for 3-4 years, was a two weight belt holder, he beat everyone he met at 140 including defending belt holders (something cotto never did) until he fought pac, beat a legend and top 3 p4p fighter in koysta and was the first person to ko castillo who was #8 in the p4p rankings at the time.

that's not bad for an fighter who is a shitty boxer and who "sucks". that's better than what 99% of pro boxers will ever achieve. by your reckoning there's not many boxers who don't suck.

 

I think hatton is getting underrated at the moment....He was first overrated after he KO'D castillo...and now he is getting underrated...think about this .....Correct me if I'm wrong but in the past 20 years of the lineal jr. welter title....Only Chavez and Tszyu held it longer then hatton.....

Now you got guys like malignaggi and urango still making noise in their carears who hatton beat....

Just because he got beat by pacquiao and mayweather, some think he is just a "club fighter"....Hatton is not a ATG by any means, but he was a Good fighter....and based on Hall of Fame standards in boxing, he will probably get in...
