he looked awful against PBF. Physical condition notwithstanding, he had no gameplan beyond running at Floyd and getting caught on the way in. Overwhelming your opponent works if they're the smaller man, but it was pretty clear Floyd had the core strength advantage at 147. Ricky looked like crap that night, and got trounced.
Before he fought Tszyu, he fought nothing but bums like Carlos Maussa and Tony Pep. He cheated against Tszyu by wrestling him, the same Tszyu that beat Mitchell and Judah, boxers who Hatton would lose to. He got a gift decision against Luis Collazo, fought other boxers who couldn't box worth a lick such as Urango and Lazcano, then beat a shot JLC. His only real legitimate win against a solid contender was Malignaggi.
Hatton beat Collazo more decisively then Andre Berto. Lets put it that way. He also beat Malignaggi in terms of rounds won better the Cotto. Although Malignaggi was more torn up against Cottp.
There's nothing to judge him on at welter really, Collazo's the only true welterweight he fought and he barely scraped past him.
think you'll find he fought maussa after tszyu, and i think you'll find the night he fought tszyu there was a bit of wrestling going on with both of them. In fairness he took the best tszyu had to offer on the night (granted a less than peak Tszyu) and came out the other side. Totally agree it was a gift decision against collazo though apart from the knockdown done nowt
