I'm not a big Hatton fan, but I think he takes Paulie without too much trouble. Paulie's main claim to fame is going the distance with Cotto, and I'm always reserved about guys who are thought to have put on their best performance in a loss. Hatton's been in with better guys and while he didn't look great against Lazcano, I think he's a level above Paulie.

Yep. I'm no Hatton fan either but he's better than PM. Hatton does a Ruiz style job on PM. Than he's off to face Oscar next year.
I like floyd sr's technique, especially when they are running, if hatton slows down he is gonna run the mother ****er over!
Mayweather Snr is one of a few reasons why im picking Hatton to lose. Mayweather is famously a defensive coach, I beleive that is the reason why he got him on board. Thing is i reckon that will take away what made Ricky afftective in the first place, he is a pressure fighter, he over powers oponents, gets in range and unloads his famous body blows to wear his challengers down and thats what he did, thats what he was trained to do under Billy Graham, thats what won him the world title in the first place. If Hattons is thinking about not taking punches, if he doesnt try and over power Malignaggi, get close and rough Paulie up, if he is only half a step out from where he should be, you could find a slickster like Malignaggi will jab his head off. The weigh in may also be a problem, Mayweather hardly got Guzman into the shape of his life when the biggest fight of his career came along. Also Hatton hasnt looked **** hot in a while, not since Castillo and he wasnt facing a prime fighter who made his career at 140, he was fighting a former lightweight, who was past his peak and who had a style that was made for him. In Malignaggi he has a guy who is in the prime of his life, but also in the fight of his life, he might not get too many chances if he loses to Hatton, when a guy is in the fight of his life you often see them putting on a show, after fighting Tszyu, Castillo and Mayweather I dont think Hatton is veiwing Malignaggi the same way. Also Paulie is a slickster not someone who Hatton shines against usually, see the Magee, Callazo and Mayweather fights for further details... Hatton has also turned 30, not lived the healthiest of lives and last time out looked **** against a former lightweight, who doesnt have the reputation of being hard to find - in reality Lazcano was picked for a reason, to make Hatton looked good, but he didnt, he looked past his peak! It wont be easy but in theory Malignaggi should only need to win 7 rounds to win the title, is he good enough to take 7 rounds of todays Ricky Hatton? I think so. Paulie on pts for me.
Couldn't you keep the British theme going with a titanium-chinned Brit? Eubank is probably the closest, I think.
Wow.....very impressive from the looks of things. He seems to be picking up the subtle techniques that Floyd Sr is teaching...I'm sure he's not trying to change his style completey..just littel adjustments that he should have been doing for yrs. Like head movment, fients and rolling his shoulders. But in that little clip Hatton looks like a fast learner. For me the fight was a toss up but now I think under the guidence of Floyd Hatton not only could win by KO but by Decision which is saying alot considering Paulie going the distance is usually a "W" on his resume.
Some good points...especially the life style standpoint for Ricky. I also like the point you made that Ricky won a title based on his aggressive style. What I think FLoyd will do is not CHANGE Ricky to Floyd Mayweather but enhance Ricky's offensive qualities by impelemnting some subtle boxing craft that will allow him to be a little more elusive....maybe give Hatton some better footwork to create opening and showcase a little more head moevement which he'll need with Paulie. Paulie is an accurate puncher with guys like hatton and the fight can easily go Paulie's way if Hatton can't mount his offense effectively. What Floyd is doing is showing Hatton ways to conter Paulie's speed and elusivness which tightening up his own "D". THe offense of Ricky is pretty good....he just never sets anything up properly...the Jab is good but seldom ever used with Ricky and I think Floyd is going to bring that back.
haha All that beer drinking has made Ricky very soft to the body. That ball that Sr. was throwing at him really hurt him.
Take a look at the early videos of Hatton with Mayweather . . . He looks confused and uncoordinated . . . These latest videos show him meshing VERY well with Mayweather, I expect Hatton to really put on a clinic against Paulie with his speed and power being the overwhelming deciding factor.
Also, I think it's worth mentioning, Paulie was able to stand in there and make the full 12 with Cotto on account of Cotto's relative lack of speed . . . This will not be the case with Hatton
Hatton actually looks good. Floyd seems to have worked wonders with him already, he looks in great shape and I'm interested to see how my implements these new techniques in the fight.
