Hatton made a dumb decision

When I heard about his depression and comeback attempt, I couldn't help but think it would be just a temporary band-aid. I'm no psychologist but if he said losing those fights and missing the sport/sense of purpose were the main factors for his depression (I'm sure alcohol abuse didn't help), well it's not like he's gonna fight forever and he was bound to lose, whether it be sooner or later.

Whatever, it's his life.

 

Maybe it was stupid to begin with. But let's face it, Senchenko is a Cleverly like boxer, who already had a good opponent.
I expected Hatton to come out victorious because Sench lacks power. But I also posted prior to the bout that I wouldn't be surprised at all if he lost.

A KO loss wasn't the way I expected though.

 

I was always against the comeback but he should've had a tune up against Khan first.

 

In his mind he had to try it out in the ring to judge. It's a decision he had to go through, better now than later.

 

I actually applaud Hatton for taking a decent test. His beating a nobody would have been meaningless. He wanted to know if he can compete or not. Now he knows.

 

This guy, Sedchenko, got ko'd to the body by Paulie Malignaggi, who nevers stops class fighters and he did it with a body shot. Seems like Hatton had the table set for him but he just doesn't have it.

 

No, he didn't.

It was stopped on cuts, essentially. Smoger was begging the doctor to call it off due to the cut and finally made the judgment call himself as Malignaggi was shredding him in the ninth. It wasn't any one punch in particular.

 

Sasaki's legit but there aren't any huge names on his resume. Look, you have to understand Ricky to understand this move. Yes, he could have taken an easier opponent for his comeback fight but that's not how he operates. Training camps are hell for him and he doesn't need the money so why would he put himself through that misery unless he wanted to get on the fast track to a rematch with Pacquiao? A win over Senchenko would have accomplished that. Unfortunately it didn't work out that way...

 

Don't know what fight you were watching but it sure wasn't Paulie vs Senchenko.:nut

Ricky is probably surrounded by yes men who see him strictly as a cash cow and cater to his inflated ego.

I remember him claiming "it was evens stevens" for the first 8 rds vs Mayweather.
Forget the judges; on slow motion, he might have won a single rd, no more.

Then for the Pac fight his trainer warns him Pac is practicing for a simple combination; slip the left hook and counter with a right.

You would think Ricky would come prepared for this move; after one single minute the fight was as good as over as he was eating the right hand counter as doughnuts.

His father had the sense to tell him straight to his face he was finished and even slapped him when he learned he was making a comeback.

This latest fiasco is so in line with everything he has done up to now. Delusional and full of himself with little respect for the sport or the fans.

Yes, I do believe that a victory over Senchenko would have put Ricky on the fast track to a Pacquiao rematch. This doesn't mean that he would be next in line but he certainly would have been back in the mix after beating Senchenko and Malignaggi( the opponent most likely to follow)...

 

Man look senchenko is an easy opponent. I mean seriously he easily got beat by tko to freaking feather fisted paulie who in his last fight got a gift win over freaking cano who s4cks. For real people act like senchenko is a real good fighter in which he really isnt. I bet my money berto even though got his butt whooped in his last fight vs guerrero would have ko or tko senchenko. Guerrero would abuse Senchenko badly.

He should have fought Junior Witter in his come back bout. Junior is shot. He's been fighting at a domestic level for a few years now and loosing. Ricky could have killed two birds with one stone and given Britain a decent domestic bout as whomever he had fought it would have sold out. And he would have been an overwhelming favorite to beat his nemesis that he refused to fight for a decade.
Anyway Hatton fought the way he's always fought. He didn't look any different to me than the usual gung ho approach his always had in his fights. Defensively porous. No jab. And low ring IQ.
