The idiot in that article is spewing out bogus numbers at random.....he quotes Hatton-Malignaggi being PPV in the US....... ......Hatton-Malignaggi was on free HBO in the US.....I'd assume every other number in that article is hogwash. How in hell can that idiot say Hatton-Malignaggi drew 70-200k in the UK ......yeah, and the Mayweather-DLH fight drew 50k-2.4mil in the US. Its so obvious the turd does'nt know his figures....... In any regards the idiot along with Manny Pacquiao come out looking like complete idiotic fools as after the stink they made and giving Hatton an ultimatum to accept the lower end of a 60-40 cut...... .....those turds come up looking like complete bafoons, bowing down and accepting the very next day the originally agreed upon 50-50 split!
I think your figure of 2-3m ppv is quite wrong. Hatton-Mayweather was only 1.2m as reported for Britain, and that was during better times. I doubt a Hatton-Pacquiao can generate 800k ppv in Britain at this time of crisis...
Pacquiao got less than 200,000 buys in the US against David Diaz, and the US has 4 times the population of the UK....
the reason is because he was fighting malignaggi & not a big name opponent so it was shownn on HBO(subscription in the us) but sky ppv in the uk(15£ each) but if hatton fought manny or floyd it would obviously atract a ppv audiance frm the uk + usa + more live gate sales(frm uk.... how many fans does floyd bring? or manny?) manny v floyd(or anybody bar hatton)=no uk ppv or no 20-30000 live gate! ok i know the mgm only holds about 15000 (i was there in nov watchin the hitman bitchslap that wee puss frm ny)
This article is stupid, here's why 1.) 70,000-200,000 is a ridiculously wide range, so obviously the source(s) of info aren't particularly accurate 2.) The article references PPV sales in the US for Hatton-Malignaggi, when the fight wasn't even on PPV. That shows that the reporter has no clue what the hell they are talking about, and is either making things up or getting info from sources that have no clue what they're talking about
ok i admit 2-3m is a bit optimistic but would still be alot more than any fight not including hatton! (ie arum has a deal with setanta which is subscription!) either way the uk is a market arum or paquiao cant ignore!
and your point is???! nobody in boxing brings more to the table than hatton! regardless of what your major sports are! ricky hatton=$$$$$$
I'm American dip****. And the point isn't in which country is boxing a bigger sport, the point is which fighter brings in more money.
To a Hatton-Pacquiao fight maybe...but, for a Hatton against anybody except FMJ, I guess quite poorly. If Hattons is such a big hit then all of his fights would a have been PPV...
yes that has already been established dickhead!! the point is its still more than any fight not including hatton because (how many times do i have to repeat myself!!???) no hatton = no uk ppv + no uk live gate(ie more fans than manny + floyd put together!) do you understand???? anyway! all of hattons fights are ppv in the uk! and like i said b4 nobody can ignore that market! if you knew anything about how the industry works you would know that!!
that's 250k US PPVs. according to this thread even more than malignaggi-hatton in the UK as well as barrera-marquez. and to think this fight supposedly involved the two best fighters @140. it wasn't even PPV in the US. :-(
