It wasn't PPV that fight, i must be honest that i don't totally believe the 1.3 million figure, it was being quoted at about 900000 to a million directly after the fight which seems more realistic to my mind, whatever the sales they where amazing for a fight that didn't start till 4.30 am
I know that Sturm vs De La Hoya and Hopkins vs Allen was PPV so the following Hoya vs Hopkins fight muat have been too but i can't remember. After Oscar got a gift against Sturm and got stopped by Hop's in a boring fight i think he was done as PPV over here. Also even before those fight's he fought the likes of Vargas for free over here. But like i said it was Khan who sold the De La Hoya vs Pac PPV.
No way would Oscar-Pac have been PPv over here without Khan, I know that sounds ridiculous from a boxing pint of veiw but thats the way it is. The original article is vague, inaccurate and uses a main source that is "unwilling" to name himself. How much credence can you really give it IF you are being honest rather than just score points in this 50/50 split argument?
Its true. In the UK people pay to see Hatton, not his opponent. He attracts a lot of casual boxing fans in the UK and to be honest, they wouldnt have clue who Manny Pacquaio is.
Try this it might help you understand. The greatest actor in the world is maybe Pacino or De Niro,do they get paid the most for a movie, hell no.Cruise gets far more, why? Because people pay to see him act, just like poeple pay to watch Hatton fight.
Not many fights ever sell more than that in the UK. Unfortunately the sport aint as big as people think over here and a lot of people get the fights online for free. so hatton is marketable
no.... i think you'll find you are a ***** fella. if you've got nothing better to say than that, then i feel sorry for you. Don't be ashamed of being a ****** though.
Hatton fans, before you get fired up, look closer at this so called "expert" set of #'s. The article there gives sets of figures for several fights of Ricky's, purposely the ones that weren't his highest, and only gives one set of figures to compare against for Pac, and that was his fight against Oscar Got Damned De La Hoya. Ask to see the PPV #'s for Pac vs. Jorge Solis? get the idea. Of course the Malignaggi wasn't gonna go huge, even in the UK, because for one thing the guy had to get a ****in' haircut in the middle of a very close fight over an opponent he should have handled. IMO, neither one (and they both can do their thing) are gonna' get anywhere near the money, whatever the split, fighting anybody else but PBF, and he's ****in' retired. That's all I've got to say about that.
