What complete tat. An unnamed 'expert' (Probably PacDbest) says that hatton aint a draw, and that 'no one can push the PPV numbers higher than manny' Thats just plain wrong.

The only significant PPV Pac has been in is Oscar, who sold probably 75% of it, and it did what? 1.5m? cant remember.

Lets look at Pacs other biggest fight to date. Marquez 2. did 300K. Lame.

  2. It's a GIANT leap to go from

"Against Oscar de la Hoya last November, Pacquiao drew over a million subscribers."

    to

“The figures will show that it’s Pacquiao who brings in the money, not Hatton,”

Err, excuse me? What?! I think you'll find the figure shows ODLH brings in the money; not Pac. VERY tenuous link. The reason he's an un-named source is because he's talking out of his rear end.

If this is true it proves whos the more marketable fight. Pac-Diaz does 150k-250k ppv buys at $50 each, Hatton-mal does 70k-200k at £15 each! Which is $21 for ppv. In comparative terms:

    100000*$21 = 2.1mil
    200000*$50 = 10mil.

Pac is nearly 5* more marketable than Hatton in their boxing lands! Pac does 20mil buys im phil if they had ppv.

Very bias angle I know ;)

Also if we count out both their big fights, DLH & PBF and go by past ppv records. Anyone know what fight of Hatton comes close to Pac's PPV fights, 350k each for Pac-Morales trilogy, 300k for Pac-MAB rematch and 425k for Pac-JMM 2 rematch. I dont think Hatton's fights with Urango, Castillo, or Collazo drew those numbers.

Hatton brings in a huge crowd, so does Pac and with a limited seating capacity of 17,000..those fans arent much used.

  4. But the Phillipines doesn't have a PPV market so thats a non starter.

And where exactly did this "journolist" get his info:lol:

The fact is Hatton brings Brilliant UK PPV numbers where as Manny brings in OK U.S numbers ,

So together they make good money

If Pacquiao fights Hatton, he's bringing in US PPV figure + UK one's. Given the fact that Hatton-Mayweather sold in the region of 1.3 million PPV sales, and that was just before Christmas, it's more than conceivable that this fight can make similar figures. I think it'll probably sell in the region of anywhere between 850k to 1 million, even with the recession. At £15 a piece, that's anywhere between £12.75 million to £15million. In US dollars, that's the equivalent to around about $17.85m-21million.

US PPV figures will most probably be around the same as a fight between Pac & JMM, perhaps slightly lower, but then Marquez isn't to bring a whole load of Mexican PPV money with him is he? Nor is he going to bring thousands and thousands of fans. Prices at the MGM Grand could be raised and Hatton fans would still fill it out by themselves if they could.

If he's not a draw in the UK, then why did 55,000 people go to see him against Juan Lazcano at the City Of Manchester Stadium, which doesn't even hold 55,000, and when ticket prices are a lot more than PPV prices. It's ridiculous to suggest Hatton-Malignaggi could of only sold 75,000 PPV's in the UK. It's ridiculous even to suggest 200,000, it would of clearly been more.

Let's say Pacquiao contributes towards 65-70% of the PPV figures from the US in this fight, but brings very little fans. Hatton contributes towards that slice of US PPV figures, ALL of the UK PPV figures which I'm confident would be pretty similar to the US figures, and brings thousands of fans to Vegas.

It's the biggest payday Pacquiao has ever seen and will ever see. Even at a 50/50 split, he's going to get more than he would from a possible 60/40 with JMM. And what about Mayweather? Do you think he's ever going to take a 60/40 split? That fight would have to be 50/50 aswell, only Mayweather doesn't bring thousands of fans and thousands & thousands of PPV's from another country.
