Malignaggi tells Gerbasi: “Ricky Hatton’s been around for 45 fights but it seems like he’s just getting it now that you get broken up from a clinch because he’s complaining about (referee for Hatton’s bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr.) Joe Cortez. The funny thing is that there are a bunch of morons in the media – including the American media – saying that Cortez might not have allowed enough inside fighting. These guys have got to be kidding me. I can’t stand the double standard. Inside fighting is inside fighting. Holding and hitting is not inside fighting. Ricky Hatton is the only guy that does that and he’s the only one with an issue about whether a referee will allow him to work on the inside."

Malignaggi added: "Why would a referee not allow a guy to fight? Only Ricky Hatton has this issue, because he’s the only guy holding and hitting. If he wants to do MMA, I’ve got no problem with that. Let’s go into the Octagon and I’ll fight him there. I took a couple of sambo and jiu-jitsu lessons just for the fun of it and I’ll take him on - I’ve got no problem putting him in an armbar.”

    How will this fight go?

Malignaggi UD,normally I would go for Hatton but I have a feeling after I saw Hatton the last time and with his team falling apart this is the fight where the wheels will fall off Ricky for good

    i'm guessing here...looking at hattons last few fights he looks to me like he's on a downward spiral with his peak behind him {and thats not just based on mayweather fight...where he fought superbly for first half of it}

i think he could be ready to be beaten...but i really don't think mallinaggi is the man to beat him...

i'l guess that hatton wins, but doesnt look his best doing it...late tko or points..

I actually agree with everything this pillock says for once. Hatton's holding and hitting is disgusting, and does not constitute inside fighting. Infact a lot of Hatton's work doesn't. If you are not working angles off a clinch you are no better than Ruiz, and Hatton all too often hugs and looks to the ref to let it go for a while.

Hatton is not fading, he just started facing better opp.
anyone can lok good beating in geriatrics and tin cans. Then when he fought a better level of guy he needed to hold and hug all the time.
He's got a china chin and look for even Malignaggi's pillow firsts to hurt him and stop him.

Paulie is sometimes too tough for his own good. With that said, he will take Hatton to school if Hatton tries to come at him. Paulie will fight him at angles and make him look like an amateur. If Hatton stays in the middle of the ring and uses faints effectively, he could catch Paulie with something big. Paulie isn't a very patient fighter and could get rocked if he's not paient in this fight.

    With that said...Paulie wins UD.

Im siding more and more with Paulie even tho im british i think Hattons best days are behind him and like one poster said he might still be in his prime but now hes facing good fighters hes been exposed i hate his style and i wanna see him retire for his own good i even think Paulie will rock him in this fight on way for a ud.

Lazcano at 140 after over a year layoff is a better competition and that's why he looked bad?Come on!:-(

Barring a cut, there is no way Hatton will lose this fight.

Juan lazcano is a tough, rugged guy...he is definitely no pushover.

But, c'mon man, styles make fights. Hatton knew this guy was coming to England to take a beating. He's slow and doesn't have a very high punch output...tailor made for a prime Ricky hatton.

Paulie, if Hatton comes right at him, should take the Brit to school.

    Easy UD.

appriciate what you're saying brother...but looking at the last lazcano fight, i am convinced that hatton of 4 years ago would have made much easier work of it...
i don't seem to think as highly of malinaggi as some do it seems...i don't think he has the beating of hatton even now...he looked terrible against n'dou in his last fight...haircuts or not :)....although i do know he stood up well to cotto...

again...hatton by lacklustre ud or late stoppage

I already said Paulie UD for this one.Anyway Lazcano yeah he is tough but he wasn't at his natural weight and coming from a long layoff, the guy started a restaurant branch,he was semiretired.Ricky said he was gonna put a statement,a statement is KOing Lazcano not getting wobbled by him.

Hatton by decision. Malignaggi is rightfully worried about getting mauled. It's going to happen.

Magic man all day against Hatton. Paulie will school Ricky from start to finish in a clear UD.
