Calzage is about to have the biggest fight of his life and all the majority of people appear to want to do is try and knock Ricky Hatton about who he may or may not fight. It says a lot about the interest in joes fight.
It didn't need to turn into this big thing. They were reasonably jovial with each other there. They could have fought each other & both gone on to have decent careers win or lose. Hatton has perpetuated this situation.
There was a decent 'window' in the 18 months before the Zoo fight for Hatton-Witter. Since then Hatton has fought Zoo, Collazo, JLC, Maussa and Mayweather, so Hatton not fighting Witter after Zoo isn't the end of the world for me.
I dont think the British public have the stomach for a rematch.Lets face it the hitman's performance didnt warrant it
I havent read through this thread yet as its such a biggie, so I dont know if anyone has already said what I am about to say, but I'll say it anyway. IMO there is NO chance of a rematch. Floyd has been there, done that etc. I honestly think this rumour is being thrown around so that more people will buy the awful PPV against Last Cano. "oh theres a Mayweather rematch in the pipeline, we must buy this fight cos its so important to Ricky now!" Its balderdash & piffle if you ask me, to boost PPV sales for a fight that doesnt deserve PPV status.
To be honest, thanks to the internet I dont debate to heavily with the 'man on the street' anymore. **** that ****, cos boxing is a combat sport, know nothings like to talk to you like they know it all. They like to tell you how fighter A will beat fighter B, just cos they know who the betting fvourite is. They will tell you- Amir Khan is so fast he will obliterate anyone, Ricky Hatton fights better than a prime Duran so he will beat anyone.... & so on & so forth. Proper boxing fans are so scarce in Scotland that its frightening, so I stick to ESB for my proper boxing talk. Im pretty sure that my fellow ESB scots(love me or hate me) will agree with me.
So true. This guy I know was trying to tell me Khan was the best at 135 in the world after his SIXTH fight....this is like 2005 Ridiculous. So I asked him how he fought Khan would do against Corrales or Castillo...and he's like never heard of them but Khan would mow over them :rofl atsch Place is full of that ****. Mainstream attention doesn't help boxing in my mind - it just convinces thugs and football supporters to become fans of a certain fighter, not the sport as a whole and allows for **** fights to be made with the boxer still making a **** load of money - Ricky Hatton.
