...ok, here's the scenario. In work I've been championing Mayweather for some time telling people how good he is. Now the Hatton fight is signed everyone's saying "That's the bloke you used to go on about, has Ricky a chance? You said Mayweather was just about unbeatable". To which I reply, "I think Floyd too good for him". The ones that know a bit less give it the "No way, Ricky will do him". So, now I've been offered quite a few bets about who'll win, of course, Hatton has a chance but I've told eveyone that FM is just a class above. The thing is, despite my rating of Mayweather I can't stand him and would love Hatton do **** him up, but there lies the problem. My reputation as one of the two work 'boxing knowledge' guys will be sullied forever. The other bloke who's on a similar level to me has picked Hatton by late stoppage and has apparently told someone (about me) "He thinks he knows everything that ****, but we'll see on December 8th". So it's Floyd vs Ricky and Me vs Pie Arse. I really hope Ricky does it but...

...I AM GOING TO LOOK AND ABSOLUTE **** IF HE DOES. Not sure what I want to happen now. Anyone else facing this potential embarrassment to their reputation? Or am I in a 'no lose' situation or even a 'no win' situation?

Bet On Mayweather. You save face, and its a smart bet anyway. Even if you lose, you still have some satisfaction in that hatton wins.

Also when mayweather does win you are going to look good. Bet with your head, not with your heart.

That's the thing, I'd really like Hatton to do it. Is it a 'no lose or a 'no win' situation though?

Well i guess either way you lose and win.

If you pick hatton, you lose face, but if he wins you have supported him to do it, and you save face in the end. But he probly wont win. Then you look a total dick.

But picking mayweather you only lose out in that you are betting against ricky and it seems a crap thing to do. you are more than likely to win and then you look real cleverand will ahve stuck by your prediction all along. So this is the better option. Its basicly win-win so long as mayweather wins. Whereas if you pick hatton and he wins its still lose-win

I went through the same thing with Pavlik-Taylor. I was telling all the haters that despite the lack of action Taylor is a bad boy but knew he could not beat Pavlik even though I was rooting for Taylor. So I put my money on Pavlik and won $250 and put my heart with Jt. It was a win win for me. If Taylor would have pulled it off I would have enjoyed it but since he got KO'd Ill just enjoy my money.

tricky.in reality, who ever you route for doesnt change the outcome, but i see youre problem;you wont enjoy the fight as much because youre being pulled 2 ways.

If floyd wins, just forlornly remind them of what youve said, but be humble and sad that you were right(curse this genius brain, its a burden, kind of thing)

If Ricky wins, show delight in being wrong, wrap yourself in the union jack and credit youre friends with insight.(you know theyre just following who they know, but let them have theyre moment.)they should go easy if youre gracious and proud of ricky.
got a similiar problem pending, but i'll happilly suspend my image of knowlege if our boy does it.sooooo..
    ...no lose.:good

Just be honest with them. Your head says Floyd and your heart says Ricky.

I'm in the same boat. My heart is with Ricky but heart is exactly while he'll win. He is gonna jump on him and take his heart from him.

I'm disappointed in you. You were one of the few people I thought would stay patriotic to the end. :(

We should really start keeping a tally on how many times your obsession with DLH makes you mention him in threads that have nothing to do with him

I'd love Hatton to win, really. I'd always root for our guy no matter what, especially against a Yank. I'm just thinking whether I should play the "Well, Hatton does have a chance it's a 50/50 fight" type spiel in the week leading up to the fight. ;)
