Billy Graham is no longer good for Hattons progress, the Body bag thing is great for conditioning but as we saw it does nothing when facing elite fighters with lean tight and hard to hit bodies...that's why Hatton could not go for PBF's body he was used to hitting a larger bulky object, also as much as Graham respects and loves his fighter this is not something that is always a good thing...you need objective trainers who will push you and teach you new things...similar to Steward and Vlad. Hatton did not advance as a fighter after beating Zoo he just became and all out brawler who belived he could win with his toughness and by out musceling his opponent although he was able to do that for a few rounds against PBF it sapped his strength and he became a sitting duck...Graham should have prepared him for these scenarios but he did not...I'm not saying the result would be any differant but who knows if another trainer could make a few adjustments it may take away the staleness that seems to have crept into Hattons fighting style as we have seen in his last few fights except for maybe Castillio
I think it's very easy to throw the baby out with the bathwater, especially so soon after a fight like this. Most sportsmen say that they tend to learn more from their defeats than from their victories. I'm sure they'll learn alot from this, and make adjustments. The other thing to realise is that Ricky probably hasn't got all that many fights left in him, and that changing his style may have a serious detrimental effect on his remaining time in the ring.
I don't know, I think they have a good relationship and it has worked thus far. He lost to the best fighter in the world in a tough fight.
Doubt it, he just lost to the best fighter in the world and it was close and tough. If it ended like Gatti/Mayweather then I would've agreed with you but it didn't, was NOTHING like that.
I think Ricky is a good fighter and trains hard but it seems like he just forgot his whole game plan the second he got in the ring. He was walking straight forward instead of cutting off the ring and using his quick feet like we saw on the 24/7 series.
i have 2 agree with you buddy where was hattons jab???????????????? is it just me but at the very least if the jab misses its still good 2 the fighter as it works as a range finder and tells the fighter when hes at the proper distance to load up hatton was too close almost stuck 2 floyd like glue and i couldnt help think if someone like dave parish was officiating wed have witnessed a more exciting fight.
i think both he and his trainer will learn from this... at least they had better and who's the avatar girl?
The one and only Bianca Beauchamp. Lefthook: Whilst you can't make a chicken salad out of chicken ****, there's also the saying that where there's muck, there's brass.
Apparanly PBF spared 15 rounds with Baldi etc for this fight while Hatton spared 15 rounds with a punching bag....figures really
if it aint broke dont fix it, billy hatton went 43 in 0 before they lost to the best in the world.43 - 1 is not a bad record at all. mayweather is in a different league right now, hatton did good he just cant beat mayweather but he still a great fighter.besides not all fighters can do what mayweather can do either.
