ITV ditching boxing was bizarre. Their figures have always been consistently good. With boxing, you've got to provide a good product, people will watch it if you do. Most sports fans have half an idea about the sport, who is good and who isn't. Put on shite and they'll watch something else. Doesn't take a genius to work out that fights like Clev vs Karpency or Burns vs Laryea are ****ing ****. It's not football, where a pub team vs Man Utd has that attraction to it, you've got a part timer in with a top class athlete getting his **** pushed in. Pass me the remote, I'll watch the news.
ITV ditching boxing was just over money. If Hatton can sign up a couple of Olympians (Campbell would be a great aquisition) it would make his position stronger with the likes of ITV.
I genuinely beleive Hatton vs anyone half decent (Witter would be good) would probably peak around about this number of viewers.
Hatton will do big business whether or whoever he fights on whatever channel. I would be really shocked if Sky don't get the rights for his comeback fight though, it will be HUGE.
