Titles don't really mean all that much these days. But then again, we all knew that long before this fight was made...or Pac-Marg for that matter.

I predicted this, but would anyone listen? Nooooooooooooooooooo! :bart

Seriously, of course this is disgusting. Maybe "Canelo" has somewhat of a legit claim for fighting for the belt that's been vacated just to get a Mexican fighter in the mix, but against freakin' Mad Hatter?
Far too easy fight for Alvarez, I expect him to KO Hatton within the first half of the bout.

Hatton is on a good run.

He should have got the decision agains N'Dou, and he has beaton Branco, Nuzhnenko and Belge in his last 3 fights.

I'd say he's got a better record than Alvarez.

Alvarez will win, but it should be a good cometetive scrap.

Have seen Hatton's last fights, and was quite impressed with him beating Belge (didn't expect him to win that easy), But the difference in the N'Dou fights between both boxers (even if Matty should have won) is very noteworthy. And Alvarez has a punch that I don't believe Hatton can take.
Alvarez isn't the prospect of 2010 for nothing.

His devastating KO over the Ultra tough Baldomir is more impressive than Hattons wins..... Hatton has absoulutely no chance and if he pulled it off it would be one of the biggest upsets in quite sometime, style wise just cant see it happening.. Hatton has no punch and not on the same level as Canelo.. He can outwork certain guys with more talent, but its not happening here.:nono Branco and Ndou are no longer world class fightersm and those other guys are Euro Bums.

Its absolutle madness , i think Jose Sulimain needs to issue a statement as to why he thinks the WBC Light Middle Weight Title should be contested between these two fighters , it just makes no sense , and they are supposed to be the ones fighting this alphabet nonesence !!!!

He needs to tell the boxing world why its these 2 !! , if they have there eye on Alvarez and have him in a high ranking then make it an eliminator , Matthew Hatton is not even ranked in the top ten in the world at WW let alone Jr MW , Alvarez i have no issue with , sooner or later he's gonna fight for a title , but this was an oportunistic match up created by his Brother Ricky with his GB connections , it should not be and should never be considered a World Title Fight !!!!!! , and what makes it worse is , its not even a voluntary defence by Alvarez , its been chosen by the WBC !!!! , the world has gone stark raving mad , and the WBC need to enlighten the boxing public :deal

On his chances , i fancy him to make the distance , i think Alvarez will come on strong 9 - 10 - & 11 once he realises that Hatton cannot beat him in any aspect of the sport and may look to up the effort to get rid of him , my vote would go to an Alvarez UD , a wide one too !!! , props to Matthew though , much respect and i will be cheering him on regardless of what i think of his chances

    :good

Hatton I doubt was anywhere near the top 10 of the WBC. Canelo was in line being the silver champion but as I said in another thread about the WBC's rankings, they'll do anything to give a Mexican one of their titles, espcially if he's up and coming and has a fan base.
