He'll say Macau next. Those are the 2 destinations that Arum throws around every month or 2.

He must be trying to squeeze a few extra pennies out of the Thomas & Mack or the MGM and needs some sort of self perceived leverage.

Does anyone ever take stories of fights hapenning in either of those 2 places seriously anymore?

Whatever. They've been trying to pull off a big card in Dubai for years, and it always falls through. Yes, there are a lot of Pinoys in Dubai, but they are the workers, not the people who can actually afford to go to the fights. They would be counting on lots of Brits to head over there for a holiday if they had it there. That said, if they do have it in Dubai and announce it far enough in advance, I might try to make it over there. I've been wanting to get there for a long time now, and it would be a good excuse.

Only if they want to overpay.

The casinos have a huge financial incentive to get the fight; the sheikhs only have pride. Then again, some guy just paid $12M for a vanity plate there, so this would be an ultimate vanity.

 

yeah they would overpay, that's how they get all these big golf and tennis matches. they've got money to burn to get dubai on the map.

 

Dubai would be crap, not dissing the place , but for staging a huge mega fight, no way shiekhy!!
