according to sky sports news hatton has played down speculation that he will fight fellow brit khan , hatton who just released form hospital with a serious dose of the shits said "im not thinking about boxing at the moment, maybe ill wake up one day and say lets give it aother go, but then i might not ", "im not missing it. Fighting is the furthest thing from my mind. I'm delighted for Amir. He's gone back to the drawing board and answered any questions there might have been of him. But the fact that he has won a world title has not made me any closer to a comeback. It hasn't enetered my head. I dont think i have to beat amir khan to prove anything" all well and good but a month down the line when the prospect of selling out wembley and securing over 1 million ppv buys on sbo even for a man of hattons bank balance this fight will seem like one not easy to pass up
Thanks for posting, Slayer. Reading between the lines, the tone of language that Hatton used there looks like he's had enough. The majority of the people on here seem to be in agreement that this fight should not happen as well. Hatton has nothing more to prove.
I wanted Hatton to take this fight, not to prove anything but to give us a hell of a an all British PPV main event. I don't think Khan would hurt Hatton, I don't think he has the power to put Hatton on his arse (altho I did see that for Pac man, doh!) and that even if they went 12 rounds it would be the perfect end to Hatton's career. Whether it be a passing of the torch or the old lion rises to the occasion one more time to beat Sugar Ray's record of 6 world titles (I think?? I'm not hot on title reigns), he gets to go out to a crowd who would give him a thunderous send off whatever the result. Not only that but it would help Amir's credibility if he were to beat Hatton and I think Amir would be the one risking more. I'll still remain hopeful of this fight as I see it as no risk to Hatton's health, good for Amir's career and most importantly pay back for the fans who with hardly a speck of the money that he has followed him round the world.
Evil Rich, can you imagine the backlash amongst the casuals if he were to beat Hatton (the darling of the normal guys) up though? IMO, at this point in time, Khan doesn't need Hatton and Hatton doesn't need Khan. Hatton's punch resistance seems to have completely gone- let's not forget that he was dropped by PBF twice, was wobbled by Lazcano and dropped twice by Pacman in one round and then sent to sleep in the next. It would be a huge British event but I personally don't want to see it. What more does Hatton have to do? Nothing in my eyes.
I didn't want to use a stronger, broader term and be pulled for racism.Strictly the definition might not fit
To himself? Nothing. For his fans? I'd say one more fight in England to say thank you to everyone who travelled with him however... I can see your point, if Hatton's jaw is truly ****ed (tbh Pac man was just devastating unlike the other 2) he shouldn't be anywhere near the fight. I just can't see Amir hitting him that hard to end him on the spot. Ideally I'd want to see a Khan points win but you're right if Hatton was to be knocked out hard by Amir of all people it would prove nothing and most likely give Khan an even worse image here in the UK. I admit as well, I'm being a little bit selfish, I want to see a massive fight at Wembley
I'll agree with you on that one but there are plenty of other names who could provide that in the future:good.
i get the feeling hatton's gonna retire only to comeback a couple of years down the line if he's gonna continue then the best and only fight is against khan, like someone said its the easiest fight for the biggest money, all the casuals are talking about it already, i would like to see it happen just for all the coverage and publicity boxing would get plus its a good hurrah for hatton and would make khan a national star and bigger name in america
