Hatton Promotions - Good or Bad??

They have been very good so far.

 

For a start up firm (admittedly with plenty of money behind them) think they've done very well.

 

Nice of you to put a token positive in there Rob before you gave us the "main course".

 

The problem for the Hatton's is that they don't have a large number of top draw fighters who can top bills yet.

Letting Macklin or Magee fight on another bill effectively takes an event away from them.

 

They have exceeded my expectations.

 

i think they've been pretty good so far although i didn't like the way they called Matthew Hatton IBO shot a world title fight

This. I've been pleasantly surprised. Hopefully they will emerge as a genuine contender to Warren as Britain's premier promoter.

Andy Morris fought Gary Sykes on a Maloney bill. So there's one example to refute your claims.

Macklin-Barker did not fall apart because of Hatton promotions; it was never really on the cards. It's only got mentioned because of our obsession with domestic matchups; Macklin wanted an opponent who get him closer to a world title fight. Barker even with the British/Commonwealth & European titles is still not in the WBC's top 15 middleweights. That's why the fight didn't happen.

As for Magee & Smith why don't we wait and see why this hasn't materialised.

Their top of the bills are rubbish but like the way they show amateur boxing and are inventive with internet bills/shows etc. Jamie Moore looked a potential brilliant pundit on the show Hatton hosted on there the other week. Nice guy but find Mickey Cantwell annoying. Gareth Williams is a proper tool as well.

 

I dont think there is anything bad about another promotion company challenging Frank's empire quite Frankly no pun intended !!!!

On the match making , i think the match making reflects todays mind set , in that its not so much the title on the line but the level of opposition and what fights the public want to see that counts , this is something Hatton was banging on about for the latter stages of his career and something he picked up from De La Hoya , and i think Hatton promotions match making refects that attitude obvioulsy on a lesser level (i.e. Euro / domestic) .

Its nice to see fighters with 0's next to there name but its also nice to see good quality fights , and you dont mind seeing a fighter lose in a competetive well matched fight !!! I think Ricky has to find the balance of knowing when to take his fighters out of the shark tank and knowing when to put them back in .

 

hatton's have been good and its even better that most of there show's are up north.
