his mandatory was a nobody and the bigger fights like corrales ad castillo were at 140. he is also too small for a WW , a natural LWW .
He did however go on to fight the best in th world at WW . what a coward eh ?

    You keep your cards???
SOrry, i considered myself as a hardcore fan..maybe i'm not.

I only recall being deceived by the outcome. Thought Collazo won.
(had predicted an easy win for Hatton by the way...but of course, didn't know Collazo before.)

    I don't keep my cards.....

It is one that comes up often on here so I tend to remember.

Collazo was pretty underrated prior to the fight, and stylistically a nightmare for Hatton really.

The Collazo fight was never a planned move to welter, Hatton was due to defend at 140, the opponent dropped out at short notice so Hatton took on Collazo at 147. He won the belt (which like it or not, DOES make him a champ at the weight) an returned to 140 to fight JLC.

You're right. He beat rusty 35 years old Tzsyu who was coming off from a shoulder injury. Tzsyu and Castillo were the only noted fighters in his resume. That shows how shallow his padded record is. More hype than anything.

So, you're saying that that title does not count. Ergo, he's only a one division champ. Okay, got you, dude. :good

    Why was Tzsyu rusty?

Exactly. He used all the foul play in the world to beat Tszyu, an inactive Tszyu, a Tszyu that retired straight after.

Then he beats Castillo who wasn't even making weight and has had a terrible time since just to show how shot he is.

    Nothing after that.

or maybe it shows that you rate a fighers record on the opponents you have heard of and what you know, which is next to **** all.

Hatton does not have a padded record. Here is a list of his last 9 opponents. If you include Manny, that will make 3 top 3 P4P opponents in the last 4 years and two number 1 P4P opponents in the last 2 years. It also includes three fighters who will join Ricky in the HOF. Keep in mind that he just turned 30.

    Pacquiao - # 1 P4P and a future HOFer
Malignaggi - IBF champ and ranked #2 at 140
Lazcano - for a comeback fight he chose a guy with wins over Leija, Stevie Johnson and Courtney Burton and close losses to Castillo and Vivian Harris
    Mayweather - #1 P4P and a future HOFer
Castillo - longtime lightweight legend who was ranked #2 at 140, beat Casamayor and was a year and a half removed from a KO over Corrales.
Urango - IBF champ who will gain fight for the belt next month.
Collazzo - WBA welterweight champ who is fighting Berto next month for the belt.
Maussa - WBA lightweight champ who had just KO'd Harris
Tzsyu - #3 P4P at the time and a future HOFer

By the way, I don't think Hatton will beat Manny or PBF. But to say he is an overrated fighter when his only loss was above his weight and to the top fighter in the world is to be a hater.

Erm... if you a beat a champion the title tends to count.

    Just as a heads up.

Not true, Zoo fought 7 months before he faced Hatton and took 3 rounds to KO the same opponent that had taken him 7 rounds in 2001. Hardly seems like a shot fighter with a shoulder injury to me.

Not defending a higher title makes him a coward. He could have a better resume by defending it which brings us back to the allegations that he padded his record by fighting weak opposition to beef up an unsullied record.

add to that solid names like vince phillips, ben tackie, ray oiveira and eammon magee among others and you have a pretty good record
