[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif] Hatton rejects Oscar fight!
IBO 140lb champion Ricky Hatton will not step in for retired Floyd Mayweather in a big money bout against his promoter Oscar de la Hoya in September. Hatton's father and business manager told BBC Sport that "The Hitman" is focused on a November fight with IBF jr welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. Other names bandied about in the media as Oscar's new opponent include Winky Wright and the winner between Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito. An announcement is expected this week from Golden Boy regarding Oscar's plans. Team Hatton, meanwhile, is relishing the possibility of a clash with Manny Pacquiao, should he win the WBC 135lb crown against David Diaz.

Saw this on the BBC website earlier, probably looking towards the Pacman fight as they will both be available to fight around the same time.

a de la hoya fight would be a bad move for hatton, 2 totally different sized men . hatton would get badly hurt. ( i'm a mancunian and a big hatton supporter ).

to me its not even close to the same mismatch... tho i see what your saying

Pac, dimension wise... is the same as hatton... and fights 1 weight class below

Hatton... was a midget to mayweather who is small to hoya, and fights 2 weight classes below him.

not quite the same tho point taken

I don't think DLH wants to fight at 154. He should fight Mosley for a 3rd time then the winner of Cotto/Margarito to finish his carrer.

Is Pacman-Hatton really that much of a mismatch? Doesn't he enter the ring at around 140 anyway and doesn't he claim to spar with people who are 140-150lbs? Depends how he carries his power and speed to LW of course but I think he's in with a shot.

I still pick Hatton though but the blokes slowly declining.

    Good!

Props to team Hatton for fighting the right fight instead of considering big money. :yep :good

**** De la Hoya . . . he should fight for a legit title at 154 where he belongs.

Winky despite his long rest out the ring will starched DLH's ass . . . so DLH won't do that.

DLH is looking for money not for real fights.

Best decision he could have made for his boxing career and worst decision for his bank account. DLH would have dismissed him inside 5 rds, imo. Hatton does not belong in any weight higher than 140 and would pose ho threat to DLH.
