I think we have to look at win - lose too!!
Otherwise we have guys like Ismail Abdoul
    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=19825&cat=boxer
He has a great resume, he has fought almost every cruiserweight top 10 but lost every single one of them... not many can say they have fought:
    -David Haye
    -Enzo Maccarinelli
    -Krzysztof Wlodarczyk
    -Giacobbe Fragomeni
    -Tomasz Adamek
    -Yoan Pablo Hernandez
    -Rudolf Kraj
    -Marco Huck
    ...

i didnt really intend this to become an anti calzaghe thread lol. Iv always felt that calzaghe has talent and skill that bordersss atg!! But his resume was slightly too thin to be able to be considered an atg. Hatton on the other hand ive never rated much as a fighter. But the ppl hes beaten ive always thought were very good wins.

How can anyone say Hatton accomplished more? He got a beating of two great fighters, yes but what else? An old, finished Tszyu, who didnt get full notice for the fight? A finished Castillo? That's about it.

Calzaghe beat Eubank in his 22nd fight. Collins retired to avoid him. He beat Robin Reid. Jeff Lacy, who was supposed to be the next Tyson, Kessler who just beat Froch, Hopkins, who was P4P top 3 at the time. Calzaghe has a great resume.

hattons resume was ruined by 2 losses one being a brutal 2nd round ko, so calzaghe wins everytime....

Calzaghe is not my favourite fighter by a long way but his wins over guys like Kessler,Lacy,Brewer,Woodhall and Ried are good ones beating old fighters like Hopkins and Eubank were not bad either. The Jones fight was a farce.
Hatton beat some decent guys as well and id sooner watch him than Joe but Joe probably has the better resume.

Hatton clearly beat the #3 P4P fighter in Kostya Tszyu and a borderline Top Ten P4P fighter in Castillo.

Calzaghe squeaked past one P4P fighter in Hopkins.

But I think its about the same, to be honest, the win against Kessler probably evens it up. After that its virtually the same, a select number of wins against unremarkable former/future belt holders, like Urango, Reid etc.

    Incorrect.

Losing to Manny and Mayweather obviously doesn't change the fact he beat Castillo and Tszyu.

If Calzaghe had foughts guys as good as FMJ and Pac then he'd probably have two losses on his record as well. At least Hatton had the balls to step up.

I'd go with Calzaghe on this. Although I give Hatton much more credit. He dared to be great be pitting himself against THE best guys at or around his weight class. Got beat, but gets loads of respect from me for doing it.

Hattons resume is alot better than Joes

He fought Tyuzu early in his carrear - his defining fight
Joe Fought Lacy in his defining fight when he was much older and later in his carrear than Joe

Tyuzu - was regarded as number 3 pound for pound even after a long lay off - Hatton became the face on the cover of ring magazine

Lacy - an overhyped bum - never beat anyone of any real quality before Joe

    Hatton also has:

    Maussa
    Castillo
    Collazo

    Joe has

    Kessler
    Hopkins
    RJJ

Apart from Castillo, all of Rickys were in their prime - he also fought the 2 best pound for pound fighters in the world. He wanted to fight the best, he didnt care about being undefeated. If he lost, he lost, but he wanted to know weather or not he could become the bast pound for pound. I respect that about him. If all fighters did this we, as fans, would be far happier too

Joe fought Kessler - an overhyped danish fighter who hadn't fought anybody i dont think. He beat Hopkins (I felt he won by 2 rounds) but it was very close, and with Hopkins being over 40 you have to ask yourself, what would of hopkins done to Joe if he was younger? And RJJ was a joke, he even put Joe down in the first. RJJ was so over the hill by this point, again, if he had been younger what would he of done to Joe?

Its tight because Joe never lost, but he never tested himself against the best in there prime. So Joe edges the resume by not losing, but Hatton has all the respect for going after the best.

No, he didn't. I feel for you Brit fans who believe a garbage ass fighter like Hatton would present problems for Floyd, it is even worse when you think that at some point in the fight he was effective.

Shane could arguably win 2 rounds and, the 2nd round he won BIG, Hatton any round you give him is based more on Floyd giving him rope to hang himself.

Mausa was never a good fighter, Collazo arguably beat Hatton and was robbed. Castillo was shot worse than RJJ.

Joe, was not in his prime either when he fought Hopkins, which I thought he won by 4 rounds, and a completly shot RJJ. His best wins Eubank, Kessler, and maybe Reid. Kessler, was not overrated Joe messed him up and he had serious problems with his hands after that fight.

Joe will be regarded in Britain especially as the better fighter in time, but Hatton beating Tszyu was huge. A bigger win than any of Calzaghe's.
