This is something I think about a lot with not just boxers but other athletes as well. In order to be at the level they were at, they have to give everything to it, to the exclusion of all else. And, seeing as they start at such a young age, it truly is all they know. To go from that all-absorbing existence to one day having to wake up and say "well, that's it then" the next has to be a real mind****. What else is there for them? What else do they know?

Hatton's (and I guess Calzaghe's) plight is all too common a tale. Nothing I would mock a person for; I haven't lived that life, and have only an idea of what that transition must be like. The idea alone is enough to make me shiver.
