I emailed Witter half an hour ago, almost begging him to chase a fight with Hatton. Done right the fight could be massive in the uk (Witter is probably more shot than Ricky). Witter can give it 'you ducked me' and Hatton gives it redemption. Book the M.E.N for September next year for a LMW fight. Witter needs a good payday and Hatton needs to get fighting to get himself balanced.

    I don't agree with this.

Let us say just for giggles he beats Witter, or whomever, and continues on, and then goes on to fight another. So what? You're missing the point of this thread entirely.

At some point, all fighters have to retire. THEN what? That is the question at hand.

I appreciate (most of them anyway LOL) the words...you know...for what its worth, I remember back many years when I had just fought on ESPN and USA-TNF a few times and needed a break...I was burnt out, 23 years old, and I took time away from the gym...I was working at an airport valet parking service, shuttling people to the airport and back...I remember having to take orders from certain people LOL...I had never really had a job like that before...anyway, one day I am bringing this guy to the airport and on the way there he recognized me from seeing me fight...and hes talking about how he used to watch me and read about me in the local paper, followed me through the amateurs etc etc...then he asks, "So what are you doing these days?"

I said, "Well, Im taking you to the airport."

I felt like I hadnt fought in 20 years...

Also, I hope no one thought in any way I was being disrespectful or anything of Hatton...apparently someone on a message board read this and thought so...but NO, not at all...MUCH respect for Ricky...disappointment, sure, but disrespect? NEVER...

Good read. I know this is off topic from the article, but I imagine you sparred with Godfrey at some point? Or do you not spar with the fighter you are training? And does Ross ever get in there?:D
