Hatton wasn't saved by the ref, but he sure had a ref who saw things his way. Of course, a lot of the Euro/British fans will NEVER admit this was the case.

Andreikov you can't speak the truth about Hatton because all of his English fans turn a blind eye to reality. I see alot of them CLAIMING that Lazcano was more hurt which is complete bull****. Lazcano who isn't a big puncher at all hurt Hatton numerous times and in the 10th round Hatton was about to get stopped until his uncle uhhh i mean Ref stopped the fight put them in neutral corners then instead of putting them to fight again he stops and brings Ricky over to his corner to tie his shoelace. It was obviously homecooking at its worst and Hatton and his fans should just admit it. And i see they keep mentioning that Hatton didnt untie his shoelaces.. Thats not the point you dont ****in stop the fight when the fighter is hurt and decide to have him tie his lace.. you wait for a break in action not when the guy is stumbling around ab out to get TKOed.

I agree 100% but these English fans will never admit that's what happened. Then the ref has the nerve to bring Hatton to his corner stumbling and all to tie his shoe lace.. He got about a minute or more to recover.. that was pure bull****

I picked Hatton but the delay was total BS:yep Unfortunately? The history is filled with biased ref's and bad jobs.

I suppose they felt a bit of payback. Because Joe Cortez was unbeliveably biased in PBF vs Hatton.

IMO? Floyd still would have Ko'd Hatton. But that job is no worse than this job:-(

Bull**** Anti Hatton thread no. 1349.

He is a talented 10 stone fighter with a massive fan following who brings elite boxing to a global stage and sparks intrest.

    No more and no less.

    Undoubtedly:yep

Yet this ref? Did cut Ricky a break. The last one? Tried to BREAK HIM:D

Its not right in either case:nono I believe Hatton would have tied up and held on but Lazcano deserved the opportunity to finish what he started. Thats a right of PUTTING IT ALL ON THE LINE Physically and mentally. It's definitely NO JOKE at the ELITE Level. Fighters deserve a FAIR ONE.

But we all know that isnt always the case:-(

Yes. That's why Lazcano came to Ricky at the first opportunity and Ricky held up his foot ???

Maybe Floyd was truly ****ed after the effort of the check-hook that sent Ricky to the floor.

Yes, of course he hit him on the back....

...because Ricky threw his arms around him and dropped to his knees (I thought he was going to try to blow Lazcano) in his best John Ruiz impression. Good tactics when you're stunned and hanging on for dear life, but pretty ****ed up reffing to break the action and let the hometown boy recover.

BTW, I had Ricky winning 9-3 (8-4 or 10-2 were in the realm of the possible) and I don't believe the delay necessarily saved Ricky. He probably would have survived anyway.

But there's a chance it did. And that was disgraceful.

What do you mean "just like the Floyd fight" How did Hatton get screwed there?? Because he didn't have a personal ref that would of let him hold and hit? Or hit hit hit and hold? This is BOXING not Wrestling. Cortez did a fine job.

By that logic Joe Cortex did a terrible job on the Hopkins/Calzaghe fight, where a similar style of fight emerged there. Or do you disagree, showing more than a little bias and devalueing your argument?

I agree, and I think most would agree also.

I'm a Ricky Hatton fan from before his title winning effort vs Tszyu.....

.....and as a fan, I would much have preffered that Hatton have won without any interference from a referee that obviously was looking out for Hatton's best interest.

I'm a fan that before the Lazcano fight, would have picked Hatton to beat Cotto.....but after seeing Lazcano twice visibly hurt Hatton with left hooks. I can no longer say that.

The Malagnaggi fight imo will do wonders for Hatton's confidence.

I just love Hatton's personality and brute honesty, I cant help but root for him!

.....anybody have some good links on what Hatton thought about his own performance. I'm interested in what he had to say?
