woah woah, easy tiger. let's remember that his main rival in the LHW division was also hardly testing himself and they were both evenly reluctant to face each other in any defining bout to settle the division.

Ricky is the true legitimate IBO champ. I hope he can unify with the WBU, and get back to his best form.

Jones was undisputed champion, all DM had to do was get a ranking with one of the three proper orgs & Jones would have to had fought him. Same with Hopkins, he couldn't avoid anyone because if you became number one challenger he had to fight you, it's the way it should be done. Calzaghe could have done this with Ottke but sadly, for whatver reason, chose not to.

An article in Boxing Monthly last year focused on an interview with Ottke's long time trainer and mentor, whose name for obvious reasons escapes me.

During the piece they referred to Calzaghe and there was a clear statement that Ottke wasn't interested, and preferred to remain as the IBF champion. There wasn't much reasoning, so you can't read between the lines too much - but he did say that it was one of the bigget regrets of his career. Even if they had lost, at least they had given it a shot.

Well if Calzaghe had relinquished his bauble & got a ranking with the IBF then the fight would have either happened or he would have shown the German up to be a coward. Either way, it would have drawn a line under this nonsense.

The bottom line with JC, RJJ, DM and Otkke is that none of them were in any hurry to fight the others.

How about the (SSUBC) Solar System & Universe Boxing Council. The (WBG) World Boxing Government or (UNB) United Nations of Boxing.
