Wasnt Hatton slating scottish fans some time back saying he`d never support a Scots man? He reminds me of a politician with the way he flips and flops.

I think they support Calzaghe, or so it appears.

Er YES you will find. It was posted on here some months back and there was an article on it that i believe Dunky brought up just after or prior to his bout with PBF.

I did love it in fact beatboxer!
I was dubious about posting on the subject though as I have said so many things about Hatton in the past most of which arent good that I didnt want to jump into this one, I just wanted to see what course it would take. & time changes a man, even this one!
Hatton as a person? Theres too much good things being said about him nowadays for me to sweep it under the carpet anymore, hes a fans fighter & after my experiences of nuthugging Harrison for years through thick & thin only for him to say his fans dont matter, its his family who does, that put me in my place a bit.

When you love a fighter you expect the fighter to at least aknowledge his fans in return, & Scotty let me down in that respect, whereas Hatton would never turn his nose up at his fans, hes great to them all the time. I have never read one person slag off Ricky when they said they met him, whereas when Harrison & Joe Calzaghe are concerned, you dont hear the same glowing reports.
I find it strange talking Hatton up, but when you post here its a learning experience. You get the chance to talk to people on the other side of the fence, & its an eye opener! Ricky the fighter isnt my cup of tea, but Hatton the fans favourite? I can now see why he is. Any fighter who loves & appreciates his fans gets my thumbs up. & I now think Hatton genuinely loves & respects his fans, & thats a great thing.

I've never met Hatton myself Dunky but I've met a lot of people who have and, as you say, no ones got a bad word to say about him. I'm not saying thats be be all and end all of being a boxer but I'm pretty sure he's a decent bloke.

I got a good price 'cos I booked the MGM before it was official that the fight was going to be held there. It was a bit of an arse twitcher when they were talking about moving the fight to the Staples Centre in LA.

As I have said numerous times...

Yes Hattons interviews are boring now.
Yes he should fight Witter and I lose respect for him for not doing so.

But I do know people who have met him and spoke with, including very close friends and he has always been very very friendly, open and down to earth. Sure all that might now have become a publicity tool but I was talking about Hatton on Seconds Out back in 2000 and he had time for people back then.

It is a cliche but true...."actions speak louder than words" and in terms of how he chooses to live his life, who he chooses to hang around with and so on....you cannot actually find a damn thing to disprove any of the claims that he is a nice guy who loves his family and has the same mates he has had for years. Nor can anyone no matter how much they hate and dig for ammo find anyone who has met him whether someone in the game or someone out on the **** who has a bad word.

And that goes back years or as recently as my mate drinking with him after he lost to PBF.

Again, I am bored of his interviews and they seem contrived and I do not respect him ducking Witter and trying to hype up lesser fighters. But it is lame to see people who do not even know a single person who has met him spending month after month trying to convince others he is some ****.

Man, its hard debating this as I have been a Hatton hater for years, & have always said Junior Witter was the better fighter & how Hatton was a **** for running him down & not fighting him. I could go back to the hatton 'dancing' incident at a Witter fight, Hatton throwing his gumshield at Witter etc... I have honed the art of hatton slaughtering to perfection! I could agree with everything you said there, & add some more for good measure!

But I dont know whats going on in my big scottish head at the moment, Im seeing a different side to Hatton that I actually respect & I cant hide from the fact. Its the way he treats his fans, as I grow older different things matter to me as a fan of the sport, & at this moment its Hattons love of his fans thats changed my opinion of him.

& thats the thing, I honestly dont think for a minute Hatton fears Witter. Its not in Hattons makeup. Im sure he would see a Witter fight as easier than a Floyd rematch, but Hatton wants the latter.

Im going to have to bow out of this debate for now, as Im undecided about Hatton at the moment. I have always been a Hatton hater, but recent events have me re-evaluating what is important in a fighter. Thats why my post is so ****ed up, cos I cant decide which way I am going to go! Sorry about the long & winding post with no end product, but its the best I can do at the moment as I am in a state of hatton confusion right now:D

Maka my good man, I must admit that Im going through an ESB midlife crisis at this moment, not loving Scotty anymore, not hating Hatton anymore, ESB is bad for my health!
BTW maka, havent got back to you yet as we dont know for sure if we have the fight anymore, my pal has a lot of tapes to go through! Hundreds in fact as he doest mark them off... but its not a lost cause yet. If the result had been good, we would have it. But when our boys lose we usually dont keep 'em, & thats the problem
We wanted to make a Scott Dixon montage as we loved the guy, but back in the day we taped over every fight he lost, & we hate ourselves for it till this day...
