Hatton: Scottish fans should support local fighters as much as they do me!

Ahh yes Dunky. I for one have always thought Hatton seemed a decent chap and a nice enough person.

However, I am of the belief that Hatton doesn't really give a hoot what his real decent, hardcore, true boxing fans as long as he has his casual fans that will watch him fight anyone. Hence the large number of mediocre fights in his career and his utter refusal to give us all what we really want and thats an awesome number 1 vs number 2 British Derby Junior Welterweight show down with Witter.

Hatton has fought good competition spodarically throughout his career. Im not one to dismiss his victories over Tsyzu and Castillo on the grounds of age: Zoo was coming off destroying a still very good Sharmba Mitchell and Castillo was just two fights removed from decimating Corrales. What annoys me is how long it took him to step it up from WBU level and how he frequently tries to brush off fighting Witter with the lame reason that he doesn't want to give him a pay day. His career, by his own admission, is winding down. He owes it both to himself and true boxing fans in my opinion to take the big fights in order to potentially establish himself a great legacy and to give us the real fight fans who have watched him for years and years the fights we want to see. Witter would be a nice start, followed by Juan Diaz and I wouldn't say no to a Malinaggi bout either. Is that so much to ask?

too right man, dunno what's happened to Dunky. Look's like the big man has lost the plot and he's been brainewashed by the Hatton apologists.
At least a few of us are left. It reminds me of that 28 days film where only a select few are left sane, the others have all got that Hatton disease, which makes them buy Wicky's bullhsit excuses, lies and contradictions.

'Junior needs to fight a few more creditable names, I'm looking at Lazcano'   :patsch

To me, if he truly cares about his boxing fans he will fight Junior Witter its that simple.

He's so popular amongst the casual football fans that he could fight anyone he wants and it will sell out. But if he cares for his reputation and any legacy that he might leave behind, he must take fights against the likes of Witter and later this year hopefully Diaz(he has already stated his intention to only fight twice this year.)

In time we hate that which we often fear- william shakespeare.

that's the beauty of this, the fact that you feel threatened by a little ginger headed lad with small arms and the absence of a decent jab

I liked the comparison to 28 days later:lol:

Nah, I havent lost the plot, no need to worry! All I am saying is that I think I might have been wrong to slag off Hatton personally, as hes good to his fans. Hatton the boxer who avoids Witter etc? Still annoys me to this day! But hatton the person who I used to slaughter in here, I feel bad about it now, cos I honestly think for all his faults, hes a good person to his fans.
Im no Hatton apologist now, his arrogance towards Junior Witter still makes my blood boil. But hes a great man to his fans, there was one Hatton story especially from a scottish poster on another forum who I have never even spoken to that changed my attitude towards Hatton & his relationship with his fans.
After I read that guys post, I thought I was wrong to say Hatton is a complete ****. For all his faults, hes good to his fans. & it would be unfair of me just to keep sticking the boot in when I know in my heart hes not the all-out bad guy I thought he was.

Im just being honest, even if it loses me some kudos on here! Cos you have to post honestly, thats my philosophy.

So vicious will Joan "God" Guzman's beating of Alex Arthur be that Scotland will no longer be officially recognised as a nation.

When will you admit you are fully aware Arthur is going to be given a lesson in boxing?

    I see what you're saying.
Me.....I have never thought Hatton is a ****, and defended him on the sombrero throwing incident for example. I'm pretty sure he's alright to have a beer with, away from all the cliches and me me me chat in his interviews.

However, as a boxing fan I think the guy is an overrated, sneaky fraud...and that's why I can't have him at all. The Witter thing does my head in, amongst a few other things. His old man is a liar and seems to know **** all. I don't like charlatans. He's also got one of the most boring, ugly boxing styles going. That's not a reason to dislike him (I got nothing against Ruiz), but the other stuff is plenty good reason.

Thats because most Hatton fans are full of **** and completely unaware of the facts or choose to simply igonore them and tow the same stupid line as the rest of there peers.
